"TIP" question

Recommended Posts

I have a question about Tips, not gratuities to the Carnival staff but tips in general. Are tips an American thing, or do other cultures tip. I know I have heard some other countries do not. The reason I ask is because when we were in Jamaica, there were tip jars everywhere. We were even at a little shop in the terminal and there was a girl that had a tip jar next to her terminal. And this was just a store, with her ringing things up. Not like a service place or anything. Not sure if she was hopeful for an extra something or if they just have a different concept of tips than we do in the US.

tip jars are springing up in the good old usa as well. places like donut shops, stationary stores, and pizza joints.

it's like the people on the street corners.

it's up to you if you wish to throw something in. i never do.

tipping remains a payment method for people in the service industry.
