Thanks for the info. We usually fly United with overseas flights and have a United MileageOne Explorer card.

As wripro mentioned, while it cannot be "combined" as such with your MP Explorer card, your UR points can be converted into UA miles at 1:1 ratio (but you can earn them at 2:1 ratio for travel and dining expenses).

Additionally, the Sapphire card is very versatile - you can put your UR points/miles into either your or your wife's UA miles account (unlike the Explorer card, which is for you only)

To earn the 2x travel points Chase includes a very broad category of spending such as taxis, bridge tolls, parking lots, parking meters, garages, timeshares, buses, railroads, hotels etc. You really can increase your points very quickly if you use your card strategically for "travel'

Wow - just discovered this thread. What great information!

 

Paulchili - you should get a commission from Chase for all this salesmanship.

 

I'm off to apply for the card - wish they had the 50K miles, but 40K is still good.

Thanks for the good word.

I am not holding my breath for a commission from Chase.

However, I have done VERY well over the years with all Chase promotions (Hyatt, Marriott, PC, OnePass, UA, BA, Sapphire, etc, etc) and Chase has done well with me in return - a win/win, I'd say :D
