...but it was just a pitch to sell me Carnival's vacation protection plan!

I was so excited to see "Carnival Cruise" on my caller ID when I answered the phone. Karen, then friendly CCL rep on the other end, greeted me so cheerily, I thought I was getting my very first upgrade/upsell call of my 9 Carnival cruises.

But alas! It was a "got your nose." Karen asked if I was excited about my upcoming cruise, welcomed me back to Carnival, then said she was calling to...

go over a checklist?!?

No, I don't need any transfers because we're driving to the port.

Vacation Protection Plan? Isn't that like the 3rd party trip insurance I purchased?

Yes, it covers medical.

And cancellations.

And expenses if I miss the ship.

And guess what else? MY insurance also covers my losses if my boss suddenly decides that I can't take that week off. Does the Vacation Protection plan of yours cover that, Karen? No? Oh.

Yes, I realize today's the last day I can get it.

Thanks but no thanks. You have a nice day too. Goodbye.
