LambKnuckles Posted May 20, 2012 Author #52 Share Posted May 20, 2012 ... I had to snap this as we passed... It seemed like something I'd see in Texas on a country road... We stopped at a rest stop, and saw this white-ness out in the inlet. Reading the signs, it told us how the Indians in this area collected clams and roasted them on sticks over a camp fire. Using the 30x zoom, I can see that they are out there collecting clams, too! The white-ness is bags... MANY BAGS to bring the clams in during low tide! We stay on the highway until our turnoff to Hurricane Ridge... Way up in the mountains... in the snow... The plows had cleared the road... but not all the way... Just some sights as we climbed farther and farther up!!!

It shined down on the water outside- spectacular. Can only imagine how gorgeous it looked up in Alaska. You were truly blessed.

LambKnuckles Posted May 21, 2012 Author #71 Share Posted May 21, 2012 Monday, May 7th was my 59th birthday. Waking up in Silverdale... I didn't feel any bit older!! But it was exciting to think about cruising... I'd be boarding the ship soon... One more overnight!!! Today was relaxed and laid back! Kent went for a walk in on the trail behind the hotel and on up to the hills and then back. I walked to the stores, and found those last minute things I couldn't bring or forgot to bring with me. Then, Karen and I met up with Kent and we walked to lunch in "old town" Silverdale! We walked down the street right along the shore. With it being low tide... it looked more like a swamp, than an inlet! Here's the view from our hotel balcony! Here's the view of the hotel from the sidewalk. Our room is the top floor, six balconies down from the front! ... then we packed and got everything ready for the cruise...
LambKnuckles Posted May 21, 2012 Author #72 Share Posted May 21, 2012 We went to dinner at the Silver City Restaurant and Brewry in Silverdale. A GREAT PLACE!!! They sang for me, they brought a delicious dessert... and Kent gave me a new Lamb, I've named her Lambster... and I have a photo later on of her and Little Lambie in their Carnival outfits!!! I ordered the Baked Crab Sandwich, Kent got the El Diablo Pizza, Roy got the Fettuccini Mushroom Alfredo,
LambKnuckles Posted May 21, 2012 Author #73 Share Posted May 21, 2012 Karen got the same as me, but with the cole slaw, and Jenn got the speciality Chicken Pot Pie. We all had a BLAST and the restaurant loved us there!!! Tuesday Morning... EMBARKATION... We woke at 5AM, to be up for the 8AM ferry from Bermerton. The Taxi would arrive at 7AM to get us there is plenty of time! We would all meet downstairs, in the coffee bar for our free coffee. Our suitcases were loaded onto the cart... Karen and I would give our big bags to the porter at the terminal and we'd roll on our carry ons. Little Lambie was tucked safely inside waiting to board!!! We caught an early ferry... and this was our third different ferry different ferry and route... I love these pre-cruise trips... Leaving the terminal... here are some of our views:
