skandls Posted May 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2005 Are there any X ships that have holdem tournaments or poker in the casino? I am more interested on poker sponsored by the cruise line than the tourneys by the third party organizers. I could get my SO on more trips if poker was offered. wv4891 Posted May 3, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2005 Hi Neighbor, I have not been on all the Celebrity ships yet, but the only poker game I have seen and invested in is Caribbean Stud.
set2374 Posted May 4, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2005 I understand that Princess is offering holdem in the casinos of some of their grand class ships. I think they are cash games though, not tournaments.

As of a few weeks ago (I was on Summit) there were no Poker tables in the Casino. I do think it would be an excellent idea, but as the Casino is fairly small... I do not think it would be easy to do. Perhaps we will see Poker in the future.
cherski Posted November 5, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 5, 2005 I just got off a Carnival Pride cruise and they had Texas Hold Em. It was a 4/8 limit game so it stayed relatively tame. They also had a tournament where the buy-in was 120 and 29 players signed up (of 30 seats available). Rather than having the tables in the casino, they converted an area of the lounge near the casino. The people who played were having a lot of fun. Great camaraderie! I would not sail Carnival again, but I would certainly cruise Celebrity more often if they had a similiar set-up. Cher
