Benita Posted May 30, 2012 #26 Share Posted May 30, 2012 As we have not gotten past our chronic overpacking and hate the weight restrictions for checked luggage, we splurged and bought the Rimowa Salsa Air. It weighs about 10 pounds less than an equivalent sized suitcase - we have the 30 inch - it was pricey - about $500, but we probably made more than that in savings from not having overweight luggage. A slightly cheaper option is the Samsonite Cosmolite - but their largest size is 27 inches.
BoaterChris Posted May 30, 2012 #27 Share Posted May 30, 2012 I LOVE my Briggs & Riley 20" x 16" Baseline model roll aboard. Also have a duffle and shopping bag, very well made, simple, nice looking, and I will be packing for 3 weeks in the rolling bag, hope to carry on, plus the shopping bag, that's it. Love to travel light!
skiladyldp Posted May 31, 2012 Author #28 Share Posted May 31, 2012 Wow I had no idea when I asked for help on luggage selection that I would get so many responses. Thanks everyone. I bought the Samsonite lightwight luggage set at Costco. Good deal on spinners.
kelmac Posted May 31, 2012 #29 Share Posted May 31, 2012 If you want something that will last, look at Club Glove Luggage (same people who make Club Glove travel cases for golfers). Superior quality and it's made in the USA. http://www.clubglove.com/CG/C02-Travel-Luggage.asp?categoryid=2 Many flight people use it. Enjoy! warburg Posted June 3, 2012 #30 Share Posted June 3, 2012 Years ago we bought Tumi luggage. I replaced my checked bag, and now have to deep six the carry-on. Brighton makes an adorable Fashionista's 20 inch hard side carry-on with a matching black leather handbag tote that can be attached to the handle of the carry-on. The designs on these items guarantee that you will always find your bag.The tote is usable as a handbag, as well. I bought both. If possible, try to avoid putting luggage under beds. Many unexpected places have bedbugs.

If there are bedbugs under the bed, then they are most likely in the bed! I think you'd have bigger problems at that point!
