marving9999 Posted May 30, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2012 Has anyone used the SPb or Alla Private Tour in St. Petersburg, and then gone to the Ballet on the first evening. 1. How much time do you have between being dropped off after the daytime tour, and when they pick you back up for the nighttime tour? 2. The cost is $99 per person. What kind of seats did you get for the Ballet. Were they good seats or rather poor. Was there an option once arriving at the theatre to upgrade the seats. If anyone has answers to those questions, I would appreciate it?
pv girl Posted May 30, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2012 There are several package tours for the ballet offered by all the major tour agencies. Prices vary for two reasons - the venue and the actual ballet company. The top one is the historic Mariinsky Theatre with a top company. Tickets can be purchased directly on the website of the theatre and the tour agency can arrange transportation for an extra fee. The other is the Mikheilovsky (? sp.)Theatre. Again tickets can be purchased from the theatre website and transportation arranged. The other venues are the ones the tour agencies advertise for $75-99 including transportation. These are in more modern, less-ornate venues and use the lesser ballet companies. Good - it is, after all, a ballet in Russia - but not the best. So keep this all in mind when booking the ballet. Also, after July 1, many of the top ballet companies go on tour, so all the venues have substitute companies performing. Alla Tour will give you all the ins and outs and advice by email. I am sure SPB Tours will as well. Per advice form Alla, we booked direct with the Mariinsky and they will have a car and driver for us after our day tour. Above all, do not book with the brokers - websites. They really inflate the prices. There are previous threads discussing all this also.
marving9999 Posted May 31, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted May 31, 2012 The more important question is will we have time to have dinner on the ship between the day tour and the evening ballet. Right now the two theatres do not have their schedules and tickets posted for August. That will probably happen soon.
pv girl Posted May 31, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 31, 2012 Our tour in June is with Alla and she said we would be back at the ship by 5pm and pick-up for the ballet would be about 645pm, as we need to be at the box office by 730pm to validate our ticket voucher. That seems to allow plenty of time for a quick bite at the buffet, and to freshen up and change clothes.

Alla will arrange for us to stay in the city after our day tour. We only have an hour and a half to grab a bite. Her guide will then take as to the Mariinsky box office by 6:30 to pick up the tickets which we booked directly from the Mariinsky website. We arranged our day and evening van with Alla. But it's a sure-fire bet you'll not have time for "dinner" - just a quick bite & freshen up. JB :)
