Perhaps you should send your puppy to try his luck in the casino :)

Naw... that wouldn't work - Shogun has already said he looses all the money his wife wins - thus... the name Shogun means nothing in the Casino. I think he has to suck-it-up and befriend one of those little Irish guys... what are they called?? :D

Not talking about class at all. Just don't see the fairness where someone who has not earned the 'perk', is then given it because 'they know someone'.

Shogun doesn't just "know" someone, he is someone. The captain, chef and crew don't go out of their way to say hello to every Tom, Dick and Harry.

Shogun has been very helpful on these boards. You should be celebrating his good fortune even if he was a nobody.

Please, please, please.... let's get off this problem that one person has. This is "Shogun's" thread - where he is taking the time and effort to inform all of us of his ongoings for this cruise. Let's just leave it to Shogun to inform us of what, when, how it happened.... then we can all have fun (as we have been) trying to get him to explain (Desi - Lucy.... you got some splainin to do!) how it all transpired.

Hi All

Well after years of trying we made to the pub lunch OK we had small wait to get seated, but that’s true of all the best restaurants, the worlds best if I recall right is in Oslo and is not even taking bookings until next year for like the year after that so a few minutes was nothing, The food excellent the service could not be improved upon, marks out 100 has to be 100 well done to the Grand Princess crew, so if cruising the Grand soon you need to try the pub lunch.

Formal night very well attended not quite 100% bow ties but very high numbers, captains speech was packed out could not get any more passengers into the atrium,

Weather sea at one stage had swell of 2.5m and a wind of 35 knots, but as we get close to land seas have become calm, rains have gone to weather looks better for Copenhagen than what we have had up to now.

Average age of the 3800 on board is 47 that’s almost 20 years younger than the Grands last cruise.

Coming up to 11.oopm good day light so going of to do some promenading, may be watch a sun set if the sun ever sets up here.

So far service has been great, ships officers can be seen out and about. Which is something I like to see.

Jubilee being shown in Vista on big screen and TVs in casino and others around the ship, big cake on display with atrium decked out in bunting, tonight there was a sing along as well.

With IC being 24 hrs atrium is alive much later with folks coming out of late shows stopping by for coffee and snacks , there was a queue at midnight,

The crew have been so friendly tonight a few that were going of shift took time to ask how my day had been want I had planned for tomorrow, now after the shift they had just done I would be wanting to go to bed, over all crew are just so nice, now little things do happen I had a cup of coffee which got spilled as the waiter was cleaning up getting new saucer another waiter bumped him and again the coffee got split, another new saucer cup cleaned, so waiter tries to deliver the coffee and this time ship moves and the coffee is split again, now waiter is constantly saying sorry, so he goes again to get another saucer and napkin he returns with a stack of saucers and napkins saying he will get this cup of coffee to me regardless of how many saucers it takes. Laughing and smiling he did make it on the forth try to get the coffee to me.

If the measure of a good cruise is how quite the pursers desk is then my fellow passengers must be happy as the only people I have seen there have been ones asking for replaced cards for lost ones or for ones that have stopped working for some reason some folks are on their forth card in two days.

I ordered room service at 1.00am and it was delivered as requested all within a few minutes.

As to perks etc, if I am the friend of a Captain and he wants me to join him for diner do you expect me to say no, or if a maitre d wants me to have breakfast in Sabatini, or flowers in my cabin from a cruise director for my DW, I have friends who just so happen to work on Princess ships, now a few officers have family onboard is it wrong for them to enjoy all that the ship can offer,

Yours Shogun

I still look forward to meeting you on a cruise one day Shogun....I have only seen you from afar as you waved goodbye from shore to everyone on the Crown a few years ago. You are one of the most helpful people on this board!

In case anyone else wanted to know, I looked this up:

The sgian-dubh (Scottish Gaelic pronunciation: [s̪kʲɪnˈt̪uh]; often Anglicised as skean dhu /ˌskiːən ˈduː/) is a small, singled-edged knife (Gaelic sgian) worn as part of traditional Scottish Highland dress along with the kilt. It is worn tucked into the top of the kilt hose with only the upper portion of the hilt visible. The sgian-dubh is normally worn on the right leg, but can also be worn on the left, depending on whether the wearer is right or left-handed.

Now I understand why Shogun brought it! Have a great cruise. Greetings you you and Mrs. Shogun.

Shogun the cute pup's owner.

It is the pup that is cute, not Shogun.:p (although Mrs. Shogun may disagree)

Hi Shogun,

Glad everything is going well.

Were there many kilts onboard on formal night?

As he will tell you, I have argued with Shogun myself on this point, not about Sabatinis but why he gets what he gets. It seems crazy at times but it happens.

Hello Shogun and thank you for your daily updates which my husband and I really enjoy.

They are helpful and I second the earlier poster who indicated that this is your usual manner on the boards, helpful and informative.

I have travelled on Princess in much, much lower grade cabins and also saved up for full suites for speacial occasions.

I don't mind who shares my breakfast table on these occasions,or why, I am too busy enjoying my hard earned cruise!

Please keep posting and taking us along on your journeys.

Might not be so bad if he kept it to himself a bit - not that I am in the slightest bit jealous, much prefer hunt the table in Horizon Court:(

Hi All

We are in Copenhagen today along side the Ocean Princess, weather is not to bad, a bit windy with an odd ray of sunshine but still quite cool, or sub artic if from Florida,

Our cruise director is Peter Tredgett first time I have had him a cruise director, he has so far ensured a full and varied list of actives

Take 10.00am Destination lecture Scandinavia, or Egg Drop Challenge, or Longest Drive competition, or Gemstones around the world, or Fruit carving demo, or movie a queen is crowned, or alternative treatments for arthritis ,or Holiday store at sea, think you will get the idea, he stops and chats away and always appears full of energy

Our Maître D is Mario Propato as a senior officer said a right nutter and a great Maître D he is constantly smiling and even the waiters I have spoken to speak very highly off him,

any questions folks just ask,

more later

Yours Shogun

Shogun; please keep in mind that I am from Virginia, "the south" (although not the "deep south"). I throughly enjoy your reviews but do have a question: What is a "Right Nutter"? We will be on the Grand in November and if I should happen to run into Mario Propato and call him a "right nutter", will he punch me or maybe have me walk the plank? Regardless, since you will be on the Grand at the same time, I would just blame it on you! :D

Sounds like you are having a great time and I look forward to further reviews.

Jon
