I meant to mention internet access. I was able to connect to the internet using my Kindle with 3G for a good part of the cruise. I had assumed it would only work when we were near land, but on a couple of occasions it also worked while at sea. Once or twice it tried to default to the ship's wi-fi, which I couldn't do since I didn't pay for it and had no password. It was a pleasant surprise how often it worked.

 

3G is slow, but it's better than nothing. I used it to bring up google maps while walking around Stavenger, to find the train schedules, etc.
