Shop Opening hours in Pillipsburg?

We will be in St. Maarten on Monday, July 9 on Explorer of the Seas. We are docked in Phillipsburg from 12:30-8 pm. We will be renting a car and going to the beach for a few hours. When we return, we would like to do some shopping in town. Does anyone know if the shops will be open after 5 pm? I think that I have read somewhere that all of the stores close at 5, even if a ship is docked. Does anyone know? I would love to shop late in the day. I love St. Maarten for shopping!

I think that the shops downtown (Frontstreet) will be closing or closed by 5:00.

 

The shops at the Cruise Facility itself, in the "Harbour Point Village" may stay open a bit later, but I don't have any personal experience with your late departure.
