Shogun Posted June 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2012 Hi All When did Princess start this, quote The Flexi fare is slightly higher than our regular fare but gives you complete peace of mind knowing that if you were to cancel your cruise for any reason up to 72 hours before the day on which your holiday starts, you would be subject to a special low cancellation . yours Shogun
Reina del Mar Posted June 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2012 We were offered a choice of fares from a range of agents when comparing prices , last month, for a Caribbean cruise next Easter....roughly fifty pounds difference with BA and Virgin ! Comprehensive travel insurance would cover most problems so looks like another way to 'Nickel and Dime' us !!!!
livinforcruisin Posted June 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2012 I think it began in January this year. We have since booked air fairs independently for our Med cruise in Sept and for a lot cheaper than was being offered through princess. In additon the Princess flights on offer never appear direct and take much longer!!! e.g. Manchester to Venice was something like 9 hours with a stop of in Holland or somewhere obscure, wheras there are loads of direct flights at much cheaper rates. We are currently looking for flights to LA for next year and can get them at least £500 pp cheaper than through Princess.
jimpod Posted June 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2012 Our experience was the complete opposite. Before booking our trip for next April I started to look at flights as the price showing was for cruise only. The cheapest I was getting was with Virgin and it was around £800 EACH for a one way ticket from London to Miami. What a surprise we got when we enquired about the total cost through Princess to find they were charging £420 each for the flight and that includes an overnight stay in Miami. Needless to say we went with their price and now only need to make our own way to and from London as, for some strange reason, they were not offering a connecting flight from Glasgow.
