What's your best cruise memory?

All my cruises in the past 20 years have been good, except one, where they LOST:mad:our luggage on RCCL (went on another ship), and we did not get it back until two days before we got off ship.

I think our first cruise was one of the best, as we had no idea what to expect, and everything was great.:)

With so many cruises it is hard to limit it to just one....

but the one that stands out to me is last year in karaoke.

They were having karaoke in the Casino one afternoon. It was packed.

There was a young man with Down Syndrome standing with his parents and looking sad, so I walked over and struck up a conversation with him.

He told me that he had signed up for Summer Nights, but his aunt was suppose to do the girl part and she was in the casino gambling and was not coming back.

So I ask him if he would mind doing Summer Nights with me. And he said SURE. His eyes just lit up.

So we did....and we rocked it.....

After thunderous applause....I ran to where I know they keep the ships on a stick, explained the situation and asked if they would give him one.

They just gave it to me and I ran back.

He was still there. So I presented it to him as the best Summer Nights partner I had ever had and everyone applauded.

One of the neatest things I have ever been given the privilege of doing.

As the mother of a special needs child, there is no greater joy than seeing their eyes light up!!!

1. My best cruise memory was that first time walking on board, into the atrium on Legend and just looking at everything. It was our honeymoon and neither of us had ever cruised and, no thanks to school and work, hadn't taken a vacation in a couple years. I never would have fathomed I would love cruising so much, but it was amazing.

2. After that, my best memory is from an excursion we did in Belize, where they took us out to a private island to snorkel on the reef. It actually turned out to be a private island and we found hammocks on a side of the island where no one else was. It was pretty magical.

PrettyHazardous - AMAZING pictures! You are gorgeous in that dress!

THere are so many memories to chose from. From being picked for the love and marriage show on our honeymoon to suprising our little girl when her best friend showed up to our hotel to join our cruse.

I would say the best memory was the first time in my life that I saw blue water in an ocean. I will never forget it. I am from Texas and the gulf is all I had ever seen before.

I got my top three best cruise memories.

#1. Swimming with dolphins. I've been wanting to do it for a very long time, and pretty much planned my cruise around that excursion. It was an awesome experience, just too short, only about half hour.

#2. Being woken up in the morning by the loud whirring of bow thrusters and the feeling of the ship bobbing up and down, and just knowing that I'm on a cruise ship. I don't get motion sick, so I loved it.

#3. Standing on the forward part of the Sports deck, looking at the ocean, feeling the waves and the strong wind in my face. Had to wash the salt spray out of eyes afterwards, but it was awesome.

Sitting on the promenade in a lounge chair my first cruise and listening to the whoosh, whoosh, whoosh of the ocean. So peaceful. I can still close my eyes and take myself there; see it, smell it, hear it. I knew from that moment on I would always book a balcony (we were in an OV) in the future.

ferfoodle - that is exactly my best memory from our first cruise in May! We are now confirmed cruisers, too.

I will never forget the first flying fish I saw from our balcony either. ;)

Mine are:

Swimming with the dolphins in Cozumel. Its an experience my family and I will never forget.

Our oldest DS dancing in a restaurant in Cozumel and everyone from around the port came to watch him perform, and then asking me questions while I was trying to use the ladies room!

Just the family together time, since our DSs are older, they will leave us soon enough, we only have so many more trips just the 4 of us and all of our cruise time is just a valuable, precious time for us--even though we harldy see our DS's at times as they are off doing their own thing.

That is sad for my DH and I to think about.

My favorite memories would be:

1) The whole experience with the first cruise back in 2007......nothing compares to going on your first cruise. Not everything with the whole experience was positive, but it still brings back very fond memories.

Would have to agree. Best memory was stepping on board my first cruise and trying to take it all in.

It is almost impossible to pick one memory....

Seeing my four sons smiling as they entered the atrium on the Elation the very first time!

Climbing Dunns River Falls with all my boys and our best friends!

All of us feeding the stingrays in Grand Caymen...and our boat catching fire on the way back............

Sitting on the balcony looking at the ocean.................... :) Ahhhhhh!

I have only ever been on two.

The first one with RCCL Mariner of the Seas...I had done so much reading on these boards that I had gotten to the port so early that we were second in line. Also on this cruise the skyline ride in St.Thomas. Sitting in beach chairs in St. Marteen when an earthquake hit and how we thought it was the waiter from the bar across the street, that we had been joking around with, rocking our chairs...only to find out when we turned around no waiter.

The second cruise last year we booked because we loved the itinerary. Then because of a hurricane we were re routed to Jamaica and Grand Turk. The water in Grand Turk from this dock a short distance from the cruise pier was amazing turquoise. Snorkeling the Grand Turk Wall. This cruise my husband packed at the last minute and forgot pajamas and swim trunks...I laughed the whole cruise because he would pick on my excel spreadsheet cruise plans and packing list.

A very fond memory - we had planned so long for our first cruise which was a disney cruise - going thru the Mickey head door - up the gangway and as we walked on the Magic we hear - "Disney Cruiseline would like to welcome the Riddle Family - with lots of clapping from the staff" - Still brings tears to my eyes - little did I know then that it would set off the love for crusing we all have!

My best cruise memory was on the Emerald Princess 2 years ago...we celebrated our 6 year anniversary with a balcony dinner that was to die for, and the service was out of this world.

On CCL it was on the Holiday in 04 when I got to see my sister perform. She was a dancer for CCL from 01-06

It was mid-day on the Mexican Riviera and we were exploring the Elation. We found our way to a completely empty deck on the bow. It was just below in front of the bridge. It was just the 2 of us and it was so cool looking out over the ocean in front of us. Tasting the salt on the wind! Watching the sunlight reflecting off the waves. Invigorating! Romantic! and the ship blew it's horn in our ears, making us jump a foot, causing heart failure, and blowing our ear drums! We turned around and looked up at the bridge and there were 4 or 5 crew members looking out at us laughing their heads off. Guess we were their days entertainment lol

Let's all try to remember why we love to cruise! Now, I've only been on one cruise and that was in 2009. I've got my next one booked for next June and I CANNOT wait!

My best memory from my first cruise:

We (my daughters, ages 13 and 15) did the Kayak eco tour on Grand Cayman, our first port. It was an absolutely beautiful day on a gorgeous island. There was only one other family on the excursion. Kayaking in the super clear waters off GC was fantastic and we learned something of the sea life while snorkeling.

We absolutely can't wait to cruise again.

Your turn!;)

The look on my wifes face when the maitre d stopped dinner service(on the microphone) and brought her cake with will you marry me written on it and her engagement ring on top.Everyone cheering and the photographers taking pictures. That was such a gotcha moment :)

Although I have many, I must say that my favorite is taking my Mother on her first cruise. She was reluctant and tried to do all that she could to get out of it. Being 75 years old she certainly had more than a few tricks to pull to keep from going. However, I won. The joy of watching her enjoy Formal Night in the theater was PRICELESS! She had a wonderful time but the pleasure was all mine.

I have so many great cruise memories, but a few stand outs would be.

1. My 1st cruise on the Carnival Festivale in 1983. I couldn't believe how large the ship was and it took me the whole week to learn my way around. Oh did I mention she was 37,000 tons....:o....and now 26 cruises later I felt like it was old home week when I boarded the 130,000 ton Carnival Magic last March....:p

2. Cruising down the Grand Canal in Venice leaving on the Carnival Freedoms inaugural voyage. We had been in Venice for several days prior to the ships arrival and it was the best sailaway EVER.

3. In 2001 on the Carnival Holiday my sister won the blackout bingo game on debarkation morning. Her prize was a cat 12 suite for two. So about 6 months later we sailed on the Carnival Inspiration from Long Beach and the suite was fabulous. Unless I get rich I'll never get to book something like that again, but it was fabulous for that week.

The no brainer for me is getting engaged on the Pride. But that's #1 no matter when/where it happens.

A few that stand out to me are pulling up to the Pride for our first cruise together and also swimming with the dolphins in Freeport that first cruise. Winning 'The Quest' was a pretty great feeling as well :D
