1965 Posted June 13, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2012 We're considering a May, 2013, riverboat cruise, St. Petersburg to Moscow, with Gate 1. The price seems pretty good. We've used them for a 2 week motorcoach/cruise ship trip in Greece and Turkey, and were satisfied with experience. But would like to hear about experiences on their riverboat cruises, especially through Russia. Thanks.
pixiegirl-loves-travel Posted June 13, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2012 1965~ read the thread for ms. russ. That is one of the ships that Gate 1 uses (and most of them are nearly identical). Also, check out the all russian river cruise thread under roll calls. A few people have just returned from their cruises and are posting all about them. The ms. russ thread will be more specific to the cruise you'd be taking next year. My daughter and I leave for our cruise in 3 weeks so can tell you more then. So far the complaints have been minimal and the compliments have been high. All of the cruise lines have basically the same itineraries. The differences are in the "luxury" of the ship itself and in the "optional" things offered. I joke and call it the Motel 6/Paper Plate cruise, but it really is a joke. The ships are nice. The cabins and bathrooms are pretty rustic compared to the expensive cruises, but they are very clean and comfortable. The rest of the ship is clean and attractive. Food is decent to great- depending on your personal tastes. The tours are nice as are the optionals you can purchase. Many of these (armory, ballet, etc) are automatically included in the more expensive cruises. Even with buying them seperately, the Gate 1 cruise is significantly less expensive than any other cruise. Hope this helps to start! :)
