Casino Points using cash?

Sorry if this has already been asked, I looked quickly through but didn't see anything. We just booked a cruise (Carnvial) and our representative told us we sounded like the kind of couple that should be receiving casino rewards. My husband and I do spend a lot in the casinos, yet we don't use our sign & sail card as there is a fee. Is there anyway to track this using cash? Are the rewards worth the % they charge in fees?

For slot play, I believe I put my sail and sign card in the machine and it tracked my play...I could be confusing this with Tunica/Vegas, but I'm pretty sure Carnival does it the same way.

As for table games - I believe you would either still use the card or tell them you wish to be rated. Hopefully someone who is 100% confident in the answer will clarify or verify!

I used cash to play the machines and at the table, I did not use my card as money - only used it to track my play, no fee involved!

Thank you! So, do you just give them the sail and sign and tell them to use it for tracking only?? When I heard there was free money I missed out I freaked! Gambling with house money is my favorite kind of gambling!!

For table play, on Carnival, just show your S&S card to the Pit Boss. They will track your play. However, you cannot be rated unless you play at least $25 per hand.

You used to be able to get rated if you just played a lot. Now they expect you to play $25 a hand for hours a day to be rated. What a joke. That gets you free drinks. Even at only 40 hands of blackjack an hour that would mean you need to risk $1000 an hour or $4000 before you get any rating... you could buy a lot of drinks with that. Its not worth worrying abut the comps anymore. Just chuck it up as another Carnival Cutback.

 

Now for those worried about the 3% fee for getting cash with the Sign and Sail card, that only applies at the table games. You can use the sign and sail card in a slot machine for free. So you could sit down at a slot machine, get money for free and put it in your players bank... then pull your card and go to the casino cage and have them cash your bank out for cash. Its a bit of a hassle, but it avoids the fee. If you are going to play a little bit of the slots anyway, just pull more that you would have for just the slot and get it from the cage...

Thanks! I like to use cash, but on average bet $10-$15 per hand. I'll buy my own drinks!! My luck on Carnival hasn't been so good, so I'll stick with my lower bets! I got some match play coupons on my last cruise...maybe I'll get lucky and score some of those this time too! Our room steward messed up and left them for our children too, so we ended up with 4! It was wonderful!! I look at it as free babysitting since their match play is about the same as what Camp Carnival charges me while I'm playing!!

Just to clarify for me (first carnival cruise), I can give the craps dealer cash for chips, and then take my winning chips to the cashier for cash back, correct? I don't need a line of credit, right?

Although I'm an NCL cruiser, that's the way it works in every casino (land or sea) that I've been in. You do not need a line of credit, just use your cash.

If you get cash from the slot machines, make sure you play at least one time on that machine. My DH got some money and put it on his card then moved to another machine and the next time he went to get more money he was denied. The cashier said he was on the DO NOT list because he did not use any on the machine he got the money from. Lesson learned
