How's the entertainment on the Splendor?

Hey, all:

We're sailing on the Splendor in September and wondering about the current status of entertainment. All of it is of interest, but particularly the "big show" in the main showroom. Since we're not big casino people or night clubbers, our main form of entertainment on cruises is the big stage. But I've read that some nights there is nothing happening on the main stage because of cutbacks. Can anybody who's sailed recently on Splendor give us a sense of the entertainment available on the Splendor?

Along with the stage shows, comedy clubs are also on the agenda. We like pretty much all kinds of music. On a recent Norwegian cruise, we loved the magician and hypnotist.

A recent CC review of the Splendor was generally enthusiastic, but panned the main theater production shows as "embarrassing." I hope that's not what others saw.

Can anyone help? Thanks.

If you play an instrument, bring it.

I really didn't want this to become another Carnival gripe thread ... Is this what it looks like? You're saying there is virtually NO entertainment?

There are 3 production shows , a legends show and when you are in puerto vallerta they bring a local dance show. The last production showis the best. There is also lots of music thru out the ship our favorite is the atrium where you can listen and dance to music and have a couple of drinks. Just stay away from the casino because its like robbery without any weapons. Enjoy it!!!

Hi,

There is quite a bit of entertainment on this cruise. In the main lobby is a wonderful duo that sings there most times. They are lovely to listen to. There is a young man that plays acoustic guitar and plays throughout the ship, but mostly in ffront of the casino. There is a fantastic band usic Manilla...they are fabulous. Of course there are the Productions shows in the Spectacular theater. I think there were thre main productions. There is karaoke and Karaoke with a live band "Superstar Live" that is tons of fun and is done at least two times. The past guest party is superb! The legends show is also tons of fun. There is a duo that does calypso music on the ship. Yes the comdey shows are funny, family and adult.

The cruise director runs a few shows something like the newlywed game.

I think there is music and entertainment for all kinds of interest.

I honestly don't know why folks have not mentioned most of this. I am probably leaving something out.

I think you will enjoy the ship. Vacations are what you make it right? I had a real blast, hope you do too. :)

I liked the production shows on the Splendor. They have fun costumes, the singers aren't always that great but they are entertaining.

I agree the last one is the best.

In March they had some dancers from a high school we went and watched their show in the showroom.

Glad I could give you more information about the entertainment on the Splendor. I hope to do a review for my recent cruise on her soon. ;)

We, the DH and I, had a gret time dancing to the Latin band in the atrium one night. We didn't do too many shows as my youngest brother had just passed away the week before we sailed. Our cruise was already paid for and I know my brother would have wanted us to go as he loved to cruise himself. We also enjoyed a couple of adult comedy shows but that was about it. I wasn't overly impressed with a singer I heard while passing the piano bar so we didn't go in and there were a couple of people singing to pre-recorded music that we weren't impressed with so we passed them by. My feeling is that there is plenty of music that is good and maybe I hate to judge too much as my head was in a sad place.

We were on the Splendor last month and I enjoyed the entertainment except that the lead female singer in the production shows had a voice that sort of hurt my ears. A little harsh and sharp sounding to me. It's not that she was off key so much as the quality of her voice was sharp...hard to explain. My hubby thought it was fine though...cuz she looked decent to him

I did enjoy the couple who sang and played in the lobby. A lot of their music was the stuff I grew up with.

I've been reading CC for the last month or so and with all of the topics/threads that get repeated, I have yet to see one mentioning the night clubs (not just Splendor but any ship) - no reviews, pics, etc.

I was under the impression that they at least existed...but probably not worth a mention?

I'd suggest you start a thread, see what people say.
