drychi Posted June 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2012 Just back from 6 days on Valor. Had this cabin. Right over band stand location near casino bar. No longer a viable cabin if you wish to be in the cabin or on your balcony. 5 piece rock bands, heavily speakered latin bands, the ships full show band, and daily music trivia and other entertainment activities are now directly below you from 10:00a.m. To 1:00a.m. in the morning. You can lay in your bed and play the trivia games as if you were in front of the stage. The bands vibrate the cabin. I complained after the first night. Guest services indicated they were very aware of this problem with the noise. They said it was a problem on all ships of this class. Could not move me, so gave me a $350 onboard credit. Very fair in my opinion. We adapted and had a great cruise. Learned to go to sleep in the band breaks with my ear plugs in or stay out of cabin until 12:30 a.m. enjoying the activities including the musical acts in the casino. They were all good. Do not book this cabin or any in the immediate area of this cabin if you are not prepared for these conditions. The Valor is a good ship and we had a great time. Would be glad to answer any questions about Valor or our cruise.
Captain Carnival Posted June 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2012 Is there an echo in here? http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1443707  Too bad you didn't run across this before you booked/sailed - sorry! :(
drychi Posted June 24, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted June 24, 2012 Wish I had seen it also. Thought Carnival's response to my problem was fair. Have been on Deck Six cabins on Glory and Conquest before with no problems. Did not remember full bands there, just a solo guy with guitar or a singer with keyboard; no problem then. Those cruises were more than 5 years ago, boy have things changed!! Hope these posts will help others make informed choices.
Captain Carnival Posted June 24, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2012 They gave be a fairly substantial OBC too and I was offerred an opportunity (after complaining 4 nights in a row) to move to an interior cabin on the Riviera deck right above the screws; the noise and vibration wasn't much better so we stayed put. We sail again on DREAM in 14 days and this time I made sure that I booked a suite with suites above and below us too.

jtaylor2 Posted June 24, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 24, 2012 It is good to see constructive advice on this site for a change. It appears you and your family did the best you could under the circumstances and had a good time. More and more, people just complain and let a single thing ruin an otherwise great trip. It is also encouraging that Carnival made a significant gesture towards your inconvenience.
drychi Posted June 24, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted June 24, 2012 Thanks for your kind words. I agree with your comments about all the negativity on the boards. I just like to cruise and make it easier for others to enjoy it as well. I have learned alot from these boards over the years.
