Troutfisher Posted May 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2005 I am looking at summer of 06 or 07 to take a week long cruise followed by 5 to 7 days on shore departing from Anchorage into the inland for nature and scenery geared tours. I like to travel light and efficient. I do NOT like to drag along for 3000+ miles and for 2 weeks formal clothing for those mandetory dark suits or tux and tie dinners. I am there to vacation away from the office. The last thing I want to wear is another tie. I see that Norwegian Cruise Lines offer "Freestyle" option dining. Any other lines offer the same? Kids are OK but would like some controls over them so they are not running over the other passengers. thanks.......P.S. This will be my FIRST cruise. CruiseIsGood Posted May 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2005 I love the glitz and glamour of a cruise ship, but if you don't, you may want to look into the smaller ship experience in AK, like Cruise West. They are a lot more casual (all casual all the time), have zodiacs to take you closer to things, and are more adventurous and less glamourous. I hear the food's still great though. :)
MichTraveler Posted May 8, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2005 If "dragging" the formal clothing is a bigger concern than wearing them, Priness has rentals on board for men and women. You can order in advance and cut down on packing.
