Newbie Question- possibly too basic

I have been looking to book a Disney cruise. We just sailed Carnival and had a great time, but I really do love all things Disney. The Disney cruises are a lot more expensive. We wouldn't have kids sailing with us, so is the increased expense worth it? Is it just better service and entertainment or is there something else besides the Disney name that would justify the price difference? Thanks much!

That is entirely relative to your own viewpoint.

If you love Disney and you love cruising, then it's 100% worth it. You know exactly what you are getting with a Disney product and since you've already said that appeals to you... you seem to have answered your own question.

Do people go to the parks without children? Thousands and thousands every day do.

We don't have children and we've really loved our Disney cruises.

ETA:

You can go to Jungle Island for 1/3 of the price of WDW. How do you rate that value? Think of it the same.

I think that if you like Disney, you should go do their cruise at least once. It's a good time and for the most part, you get fair value for your money. It also really depends on what you want to get out of your cruise. If you want to lay by the pool and just relax, you can do that on just about any ship. Most all ships have the same basic formula for feeding and entertaining its guests. Disney throws in extensive Disneyesque theming, characters that you see in the parks, fireworks. Disney's private island Castaway Cay is probably one of the top islands in the industry. The ships are clean and the service is good, but not especially better that what you get on any other line. Since we've done Disney several times now and our kids are older, we tend to like at the ports served and the pricing over just sailing Disney. Disney's Caribbean stops seem to be a bit on the average side (Nassau, St. Marteen, St. Thomas, Caymans etc.), not overly adventurous. We are sailing on the Dream next month, because it is a new ship that we haven't been on and it includes two stops at Castaway Cay. The other is Nassau and we don't even plan on getting off there. Next summer we are booked on the NCL Jewel to Alaska as I saved $5k on a better suite than what Disney offered. Either way, you won't go wrong and will be having a great time. Enjoy your vacation!
