Total Rewards free cruise

i have an offer for two free cruises from total rewards that I need to pick up.

Anyone have an idea what's the difference between, a free cruise for two and a free cruise certificate tier one?

Can I get both? Or will I have to pick one or the other?

If they've sent you information about them both, then you must be entitled to both. They wouldn't send you the mailer otherwise.

I have no idea what the difference is between those two, but reading the fine print and talking with TR and the cruise line will quickly let you know if you can use them both.

OP, did your cruise certificate tier one have anything to do with becoming seven stars tier one? I am only high diamond, but received a mailer for a free cruise that I have to go pick up too. It sounds like you are eligible for two cruises to me.

I know taxes, port fees, and tips would be extra. Is the $11pp/day fuel surcharge extra on a "free" cruise?

Also, does anyone know if receiving a free cruise through Harrahs/Caesars qualifies you for the free casino drink card I have read about?

It is pretty sad when I might not even bother with a "free" cruise due to taxes, fees, tips, fuel surcharges, restaurant upcharges, and the inevitable insane bar tab.

Thanks in advance if anyone knows answers to these questions.

I can't answer your question regarding getting a free drink card for a Harrahs cruise comp, but it seems like most of the posters here who get these comps do get the free casino drink card.

Despite the fact that with these cruise comps you are still responsible for the Gov taxes/fees, service charges, insurance if you choose, and of course transportation to and from the port, but for those of us who like to cruise these comps can be pretty significant compared to paying for same cruises out of pocket. For example, the two comped NCL cruises I have booked in minisuite cabins if I would to pay out of pocket for these cruises adding air for one, and ground transport for the other my cost would be around $8,500. With the comps my cost is about $3,000 which give or take is a $5,500 savings. Sure I will throw back some of that savings into the casino, but will have plenty left for excursions, specialty restaurants, etc.

I am a low-level (not low-life ;)) Diamond player with Harrah's.

Last February my DW and I used a "free" cruise from Harrah's/Casinos at Sea.

Here is what I know:

I had to go to Harrah's (New Orleans) on Friday to tell them I wanted the cruise. I returned on Sunday to get the certificate. I then called the phone number provided on the certificate and was connected to a very helpful young lady with Norwegian.

The cruises offered departures from NYC, Miami, Tampa or New Orleans. We had a few months to make the reservation and about 11 months to take our cruise. The itineraries were limited: NYC-Bermuda, Mia-St. Maarten/St. Thomas or Western Caribbean from Miami, Tampa or New Orleans.

The cruise certificate was for an inside room but she said we could pay for an upgrade. At the time an upgrade to an OV was $75 per person. A bacony (which we booked) was $250 each.

Basically any cruise within the limited parameters mentioned above were open to us. We had a nice mid-ship balcony on deck 10, exactly where I wanted to be based on the deck plans for the Norwegian Spirit.

With all the fees, insurance and the upgrade it came to about $1150 total. I felt like that was a good price for a 7-night Caribbean cruise.

She also said we could pay the gratuities on board.

Our "Cruise at Sea" player's cards with attached drink tags were waiting in our stateroom when we boarded. Of course neither card worked but it only took a couple minutes to get new cards. The free drink tags are only good for the casino.

Just for the record I hit a Royal on a 25 cent video poker machine on the 2nd night. I also made about $500 playing blackjack for the cruise ($25 table only). So it is possible to actually win.

Last week I booked the same cruise (NOLA-Costa Maya-Belize-Roatan-Cozumel) on the NCL Star for next February. We live in New Orleans so we don't have travel or air costs.

The balcony upgrade is now $300 per person so fees, insurance and upgrade came to $1255. I had to make a $250 deposit with the balance due in November.

It's not a truly "comped" or free cruise but it is a savings of about $900.

In 2011 harrah's offered me a free cruise for two on the epic in the med balcony rate. No voucher no trip to las Vegas to pick up. Just call this number. We had to pay taxes gratuities etc of less than 300 per person. The room itself would have approx $2000 for husband and I. The airfare from lax was more than $2400. I broke even gambling on the ship

I finished 2011 at high end of diamond level. 17000 PTA

In 2012 harrah's free cruise offer required at trip to Caesars to get the voucher for a interior only room. Had to go in early January 2012. Got the voucher and paid about $1200 to up grade to balcony on the ncl star leaving 11/4/12. As of today I am at lower end of diamond level play for 2012. 12000 pts

The 2013 offer came in the mail earlier this month. For next year to get the same offer as the 2012 offer have to go to caesar's the weekend before Xmas.

I really don't think the offer has to do with the level of play in the diamond level but what inventory of cruises ncl wants to get rid of

 We got the free NCL Norweigan cruise from Showboat in Atlantic City this past summer. So we made all the arrangements for someone to watch the dogs and the house. We have off Thanksgiving week 2012. So we called and waited on hold for 75 minutes. When the nice lady come on the phone she said the cruise voucher had several black-out dates which are NOT stated on the voucher. She said we could not use it for Thanksgiving2012 week. So we hung up on NCL and called Royal Caribbean :p. We are sailing on the Majesty of the Seas next week Nov 19th to 23rd out of Miami. Screw NCL and their vouchers they use to fill ships on off dates. I am a Harahs Diamond player so I expected better .

I just returned from a cruise on the Dawn using my certificate from Caesars Windsor. I only had to show up on the day they were handing out the certificates. My cost: $550 for a balcony on deck 9.

I lost, but I did hit four Aces with a deuce on a 25-cent video poker machine for $1,000, plus several other jackpots.

Going on another comped cruise in April. I prefer not to travel in the winter.
