Activities for teens on the Coral

After planning this cruise to Alaska for over a year, it will finally be here in two weeks. My teens (DS 17, almost 18, and DD 15) just asked me what there will be for them to do on our three sea days.

They're experienced cruisers, but not usually into the teen clubs. They usually like family activities and the ships' movie theaters.

I've tried looking through Princess' website and looking for old patters and could not find anything teen friendly to do. Any thoughts from experienced Princess cruisers (we usually sail Disney.)

Also, will activities be limited to them as they are not yet 18 (such as adult comedy shows)?

Thanks for all responses!

Can't speak to the shows as it will depend on the performers as to how the show is rated. One note about the Coral, she is a smaller ship so there is not a lot of amenities for teens, especially compared to Disney. They do have a teen program, how active will probably depend on how many other teens on board.

One thing about Alaska though, on the usual 7 day itinerary you don't really have a lot of Sea days. Two of those days will be in Glacier Bay and College fjord and those days are all spent looking at the sights. So only one real sea day, depending on direction, and I am sure they will find themselves ways to amuse themselves. My suspicion is other than that one day, the teen activities will be concentrated in the evenings.

Can only relate to taking our grand daughter on the Coral to Alaska which by the way is 965 ft in length and a wonderful space ratio and always great food.

There is so much to see and do in Alaska the teen center was never used or even considered. Breakfast in the MDR then swimming, watching eagles, wildlife etc. Then with getting dressed for dinner, shows, singing in the Crooners bar with foo foo drinks for her and one or two real drinks for the rest of us there was never time for any thing else. Shore excursions with wales, Valley of the Eagles, and on and on, and don't forget shopping. Glaciers OMG just breath taking. Once is never enough.

If you take advantage of just some of the things to see and do you will be busy 110% of the time. One of are very best cruises.

16 for the fitness center. Of course the various pools will be available (if possibly a tad chilly.

Thanks. I think my kids will be a little worried about this.

Is there is minimum age to use the fitness center?

Still looking for any other responses. Thanks.

I don't have experience with the Coral, but I took my teens on the Golden to Alaska last summer. My boys (15 & 18 then) always managed to find something to do. They made friends early in the trip and hung out with them all week. They did use the pools a lot, mainly the covered one (not sure if there is a covered one on Coral) but my older son and his friends even went in the aft adult pool.

Also, being teens, they tended to stay up very late and sleep in very late, unless we had plans in port that I woke them up for. There was more going on in the evening. The teen club did a Casino Night on one of the formal nights and my younger son and his friends went to that and enjoyed it, but mainly they only used the teen club as a meeting place.

Thanks for responses. My kids have been warned that this is unlike other cruises we've been on, and this particular cruise was chosen for itinerary. I'm hoping they are truly 'wowed' by all the scenery, and if not can find something to do on the 3 days with no excursions.

I would suggest that they attend the teen club on the first night. They can use that time to scope the scene and meet others their age and probably meet those same people over and over again. If they don't attend they may end up the "odd man out."
