Flight time changed - Nervous

We are cruising on the Freedom (6 day) from October 14 thru October 20. Our returning flight was scheduled on October 20 at 2:30pm (out of FLL), I wanted to give us plenty of time to get to the airport. Well I was just notified by US Airways that our flight was cancelled and our new return flight time is October 20 at 11:45am. Our itinerary says we arrive back in Fort Lauderdale at 8am. We have VIP disembark. but do you all think we will still make our flight in time?

You will be fine. We have had flights around 11:00 before, and have been sitting at the airport for 2 hours waiting to leave. If you are VIP (especially if you also self-disembark), you'll be off the ship by 8:30 at the latest. We've actually been off by 7:30 many times. Unless there is an unforeseen delay getting back to port, I don't see a problem.

I dont see that being a problem...but if it makes you nervous call the airline. Its their fault they canceled they might reschedule you

Yuppa - definitely call US Airways asap if you are concerned. Because they changed the itinerary, you should be able to rebook without the $150 change fee under Rule 240/80 - I think US Airways calls it Rule X

Do self disembark, as they get off the ship before VIP. We are scheduled for an 11:25 flight out, on our next cruise, the morning we arrive back in Miami. Although we are VIP, we plan to do self-disembark. Hopefully, that will work. Enjoy your cruise ~ :)

Yes we had the same freaked out problem on freedom last year except it was because of hurricane irene. We were off the ship with the VIP disembarkation by 9. I think you will be fine :)

We had group 1 tags and were off the ship and at FLL airport before 9am in Feb.

you should be fine with self-debarkation and the VIP status. ships usually arrive back at homeport way before than posted and clear customs at a good decent time. and plus you should have enough time to get to FLL as Port Everglades (Where Freedom docks) are very close to each other (about 5-10 min).

 

just note Terminal traffic at the airport might take a while.

Unless the ship is late arriving, you'll still be bored at the airport for 2 hours+. :)

 

If you're nervous, US Airways should put you on a later flight at your request at no charge.
