FLL Hotel Questions-HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

We are sailing on Jewel in December and are planning on staying one night pre cruise. Trying to decide on a hotel. DH is looking at Hyatt Pier 66 ($$$$), Hampton Inn and I am looking at Best Western Marina Inn. Travelling will be myself, DH and 6 yo DD. Only need to stay one night precruise. I am only looking for a clean place to sleep-DH is interested in something more "la-dee-dah". We are looking at Priceline and other auction sites as well. Just want to know mostly if anyone has stayed at BW or Hampton and what their impressions were.

thanks for your help.

Stay away from the BW Marina. All of your questions have been asked and answered several times on previous threads. It will be worth your time to search for them. Most of the threads will be on the Hotels boards.

One of the best places is the Marriott Marina and the best place to try to book that property is Priceline. It's in the Downtown zone and rated 3 stars. Make sense of Priceline at http://www.biddingfortravel.com This Marriott is a frequent winner on PL in the $75 range, although the dates you will be there in December can make a big difference. This hotel is near all shopping and services on SE 17th St. and is just outside the entrance to the port. At 2 1/2 stars you may want to try for the Amerisuites nearby, or at 4 the Renaissance. The Hyatt 66 is 4 stars in the Beach Zone and is just a little bit farther from the conveniences of 17th St. Best strategy with PL is to make a cancellable reservation first, then start to play the auction game.

You don't say what time your flight will arrive in FLL. If you are getting in late at night there is no point in paying for a really nice hotel with a lot of facilities that you won't have the time to use. If you are arriving early in the day perhaps you would prefer a hotel on the beach. We got the Doubletree on FLL beach for $50 on Priceline the last time we atayed in FLL.

Stayed twice at Hampton Airport North and it was very good. Free shuttle from airport and to port, also to/from restaurants fit in between airport runs. Free breakfast and if you are driving you can leave your car free for a week. Small shopping center next door for those last minute sods, water, etc. to take on board.:)

I got the Hyatt Pier 66 on Priceline for $95 for our stay in January. It could be worth it to check out the bidding sites to learn what they are currently winning and cancel your current hotel. You can see all the ships as they come in that morning and its only about 5 mins or so from the hotel to the pier. Good luck.
