kujobie Posted May 19, 2005 #29 Share Posted May 19, 2005 #1347, outside cabin on the main deck, mid-ship. Lot's of VERY LOUD partying crewmembers into the wee hours directly below us. Of course, no one on cruisecritic slums by booking a cabin on the main deck, so I doubt this will be a problem for anyone;) .... LOL.. Darn it! Again, I didn't get invited to the crew party! Although I did hear about one. No lie, I overheard two crew members talking about a party that was goin on during, you guessed it, the last night of the cruise! Anyways, to the OP, a few weeks ago we ended up with a room below the dining room/galley/camp carnival play room, and as you said, any noise that occurred was during waking hours. We never had a noise problem at night.

caychateau Posted March 17, 2006 #31 Share Posted March 17, 2006 O.K. so from reading these posts i suppose room 8180 on the Legend (Spirit class ship) will be noisy from the ceiling noise? And pool/Lido deck noise (all night long?) Yikes!!!
MamaParrotHead Posted March 17, 2006 #32 Share Posted March 17, 2006 on Valor. I freaked about it, and came prepared with earplugs, until after the first night...we didn't hear a THING. Not only that, but we booked the same area for our next cruise on Triumph. I figure that that HAS to be the noisiest area on the ship (next to directly above the engine room and maybe the nightclub) and we didn't hear a peep. BettyBurrito Posted March 17, 2006 #34 Share Posted March 17, 2006 We had cabin E92 on the Inspiration. This was directly below the formal dining room. We thought that this would be fine considering whenever there was dining going on, we would not be in our cabin. Well...every morning at 6 am  , we heard the dining room being set up for breakfast. The loud screeching noises seemed to be the employees dragging chairs and tables around. Now we only book rooms that have cabins above and beneath us.
GottaLuvCruising Posted March 17, 2006 #35 Share Posted March 17, 2006 On one cruise, we had an inside stateroom either on the Lido Deck or Verandah Deck. It was right under the fitness center. At the crack of dawn every morning, the step aerobics class started up. OMG! At first we were really annoyed (and should have complained). But then it just got to be funny. We are early risers anyway, so we lived with it. But we wouldn't want to be there again!

victory2020 Posted March 18, 2006 #37 Share Posted March 18, 2006 I always have noise problems when I'm mid ship because of all the drunks in the hallway late at night. I now only book aft(preferable) or forward cabins. I did have problem on E deck right under showroom when show was on. Has anyone been on Paradise U172 or abouts? Wonder about noise there. The lights must have been loose or something.....I sleep with a sound machine but that didn't even help. My daughters room was the worst. I would have had to kill someone. We called the maintenance guy up because we thought it was a door swinging in the crew hallway behind us. He couldn't figure it out, so it remained a mystery untill we went to the first show. We could hear and see the lights moving and sure enough was the same horrible sqeeelllllll. If I were you and it is possible I would change rooms just to be on the safe side. We also heard the shows very clearly. But this didn't matter as much since we were up anyway. But the other was all night long. The comedy show, we could hear every word very clearly didn't even need to go.... goodluck Trisha

ALVINF Posted December 21, 2006 #42 Share Posted December 21, 2006 I'll be in room 4222 on the Miracle. (Main Deck ~ Aft-ish) This is a Spirit-Class ship, so would be comparable to the Spirit, the Pride and the Legend. I notice that we're directly above the 2nd floor of the Bacchus Dining Room, on the Atlantic Deck. The one thing that worries me is that we're more specifically above a "blank space" which I'm assuming is where the dishes are brought up for serving. I'm slightly concerned about hearing noise from the dining room/kitchen, in our room. Earplugs would be an option, however I'm suspecting most noises from these areas wouldn't be while I was sleeping. So, the question is ... What room gave you noise problems when you sailed? Hopefully, nobody will answer 4222 on Spirit Class ships! :D SO HOW DID 4222 TURN OUT?

JoeSmooga Posted December 21, 2006 #44 Share Posted December 21, 2006 Any interior room on the Empress Deck of Fantasy class ships under the galley (mid ship). Loudest was E162 on the Parasise. Second was E116 on the Imagination. Joe
Valor2005 Posted December 21, 2006 #45 Share Posted December 21, 2006 Don't remember the cabin number but it was on the Upper deck of the Victory. Farthest aft cabin on the starboard side. Directly below a bar and right across the hall from the stairwell door. The bar was only loud one night, but the door opened and closed constantly, it seemed. The cabin stewards used it as a regular route. But none of it was enough to detract from the fun we had that cruise!
flynrph Posted December 21, 2006 #46 Share Posted December 21, 2006 Curiously, I have noticed in every room I've had, in various places around the room, slivers of folded paper wedged in cracks. Obviously, people are going after the creaks and groans.
victory2020 Posted December 21, 2006 #47 Share Posted December 21, 2006 Our friend had cabin M298 on the Imagination. It was a handicapped-accessible cabin and definitely the noisiest cabin I have ever been in. Sounded like all kinds of machinery was whirring around on all sides. If you look at the deck plan it is an inside cabin and is kind of set off by itself with no other cabins around it, so it probably is surrounded by machinery. I'm so glad you responded! That would be my pick of rooms if given a choice - not anymore!
Will_Travel_4_food Posted December 21, 2006 #48 Share Posted December 21, 2006 I first have to admit I loved the room, and I didn't pay close enough attention to what was above or below me. But we stayed in 6304 on Glory. We didn't have any problems with noise from above since it was only more rooms above us, but we did hear a interesting 'domestic' incident from across and about 4 rooms down the hall. I'd quote what was being said, but this is supposed to be family friendly right? :D OK now with the main point, our room was right above an area of the casino. More precisely it was over a section of the slot machines. We did hear them late into the night. We are night owls so it didn't really bother us, but we did have our 5 month old daughter with us who goes to sleep early. Of the 7 days we only had 1 night where it went really late :(, usually it would quiet down around 11-12. OK now for the good news/idea. To help muffle the sound we opened our closet and bathroom doors when we were going to bed. Once we opened the doors the sound was almost non-existent! So the one night it went late it didn't really bother us. Oh and our daughter slept through the nights! My lesson learned from this was that if I am ever on a Conquest class ship again, I'm booking a cabin on deck 7. It'll be worth the few bucks extra to ensure undisturbed sleep every night. RWolver672 Posted December 22, 2006 #49 Share Posted December 22, 2006 Without a doubt, the noisiest room on the ship is the bathroom when you flush the toilet. :D
cruisin4eversezme Posted January 1, 2007 #50 Share Posted January 1, 2007 stay away from 6344, 6335, 6338! And probably that whole group from 6338 back. The band from the Criterion lounge was right underneath and my friends heard the band until the wee hours of the morning. We were in the other corner and didn't hear anything! Sue I would add one room to that for the Destiny - Room 6287. I am not really sure where the music was coming (my guess was the pickup band near the bar at the end of the casino), but it normally started at 11:00pm and cut out at about 0100. That was really not the big problem. Our room was directly across from the launderette room. If you ever get a room across from the laundry room, change it for someplace else. Beyond the racket that came from the sounds from everyone doing laundry, there was a special sound starting at 0100 most mornings. That is when the maintenance crews would clean the carpets with a steam cleaner. Anyone who has ever used a carpet steam cleaner knows you have to have a place to dump the dirty water. That's right - the sink in the laundry room. For some reason, it was the noisiest possible operation you could imagine. We twice had to ask them to keep the noise down, but it was a futile request.
