Quebec City transportation

Recommended Posts

We are disembarking in Quebec on 1 Oct. and have decided to stay over night to enjoy the city.

Are there services readily available from the Cruise Port to Hotel and Hotel to airport? I would like to have this pre-arranged as I am compulsive about details!

We have reservations at the Hilton Quebec. Is that close to the Pier? The Hotel does not offer a shuttle service, that I have been able to secure. That seems odd to me!

You folks are great! Lots of info here!

If our Ship docks at Wharf 30. is there a city bus that runs from there to town? OUr ship overnights in Quebec and would like to know about coming and going if we are at that location. thanks

Wharf 30 is a little removed from the main terminal area, but still very central. There's a large parking/open area between it and town, and I think the last time I was there I saw shuttle buses that would take you to the other side, but this should be confirmed with your cruise line - if not, the walk wouldn't be more than 5 minutes or so. The Ecolobus goes from Lower Town to Upper Town and covers all the main tourist areas - map here: http://www.rtcquebec.ca/Portals/0/docs/pdf/Services/Services/Ecolobus/Ancien-Nouveau_trace_Ecolobus_mai2012.pdf

It seems odd to you because you live in Florida, where cruise turnarounds is a major, year-round industry. Contrast with Quebec, where the main cruise season lasts for all of 2 months, and with maybe a dozen turnarounds at most, and you see that having any sort of shuttle for a hotel makes no economic sense.

The Hilton isn't particularly close, but shouldn't be more than a 5-10 minute taxi ride. It's considered to be one of Quebec's top hotels, so you should be very happy there :).

Thank you so very much for your reply! Indeed it does make sense to not run shuttles!

I will tell DH that we MUST cruise a lot more often. Then I can open my eyes up to how things work in other ports! (works very well for me!)

We are very excited to be spending time in your city!

Most of the higher end Hiltons in big cities do not offer shuttles. We are hhonors members and have been all over the world with them. The downtown Boston ones and NYC -none offer transport. The distance isn't very far from the port to the hotel but it is a bit UPHILL. I didn't find any of the Old Quebec hotels offering shuttle service.

I will be cabbing it to the Frontenac because the Hilton is sold out for the night we need. :( 1st time being disloyal in YEARS.

We visited from Montreal using VIA Rail and had to get to the hotel from the train station. Short sweet cab ride.

Alise, Thanks for your response. I was able to find a Hilton in Staten Island that offers a shuttle from the airport and to the docks. Next time in Cape liberty you may want to look them up!

We have enough Honor points for the Hilton Quebec so that paying for a cab will still be a bargain!

Thanks for all the input here! We are so excited about our plans that we wake up every morning with the announcement "X number of days and a wake up". We are newly retired and have worked all our lives to travel. Everyone here is really adding to our enjoyment. Thanks to all!
