ship-disturber Posted July 16, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2012 This will be the first time on a ship on New Year's Eve. Which venue would have the best party?
camz Posted July 16, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2012 We were aboard the Gem for New Year's Eve a couple of years ago. The ship was still decorated for Christmas and looked beautiful. There were parties all over the ship, the largest being at poolside. Lots of energy and excitement throughout the entire ship. There was a champagne toast at midnite for all that were of drinking age and hats, noise makers and streamers for all. At midnite, the captain counted down to the new year on the intercom and activated the ship's horn at midnite. Being freestyle some passengers were dressed to the nines, while others were in resort casual. The specialty restaurants book up quick this night. In addition, the photographers had lines of people wanting their photos taken for NYE. This is a very exiciting time to cruise and a cruise ship is the place to be on NYE. avamarie98 Posted July 16, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2012 We are also booked on this cruise. Sail away is New Years eve so I am thinking that a poolside party might be a little chilly. I would imagine the whole ship will be one big party. Hopefully I can drag hubby out of the casino for a little while. I am hoping to get a reservation for Cagneys for that night. We are going to book our specialty restaurant as soon as they are open for booking. I don't imagine there will be a pool side party that night. Looking forward to the expereince. camz Posted July 16, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2012 During our cruise, earlier NYE day, we had left the Bahamas. That being said, we were probably somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle when we rang the new year in. However, your itinerary falls differently and as such, the poolside will probably be inside. No worries, there are parties all over the ship! This is an expensive time to cruise and the ship was fully booked, booked. But it is also an exciting time to cruise and everyone was having a great time. Hope you have a great trip and please post back and let us know how it was. Be warned, it will ruin you for all other NYEs you are not fortunate enough to be on a cruise ship! :D
