Note that the Serie Ouro mentioned for Friday and Saturday (8 & 9)nights is a unification of the "grupo de acesso" A and B into one category, a new thing this year.

 

Most tourists choose to see the more well-funded and therefore more spectacular costumes, floats and special effects of the Grupo Especial (top level samba schools) on either Sunday or Monday (10 & 11), however, even though tickets are more expensive.

The winners of this level are featured again at the Champions' Parade on the following Saturday (16), whose tickets are less expensive than the Sunday/Monday competition.
