Kesstral Posted July 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2012 I'm looking at either the 11 night Radiance or 13 night Rhapsody sailing from Hawaii (oceanview, can't afford a balcony) next May and noticed the 13 night cruise has 2 days in Honolulu (departure is 10pm on day 2). How does this work for embarkation? Can people show up on day 1 or 2 and would there be full dinner service on the first night with the ship sitting in port? I do like the thought of the 13 night cruise (for about the same price as the 11) but not sure I should take my second cruise on the same ship again. KuffMUp Posted July 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2012 I will take a stab at it from reading reviews. You use the ship basically as a hotel for a night. You get on basically as you would if the ship were leaving. You then have the choice on day 2 to explore Honolulu. I have seen ports, such as St. Petersburg, where they spend 2 days. You can explore on day 1, get back on the ship for dinner, dancing, etc. Up the next morning you have a second day to explore.

As has been mentioned, when a ship overnights like Rhapsody will be doing, embarkation takes place the first day and then you can use what's left of the first day and all of the second day as port days. The MDR will be functioning as it would if you were at sea or in another port. The only venues that will not be opened are the Shops on Board and the Casino. crownandanchors3118 Posted July 19, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 19, 2012 The previous post is correct. You just use the ship as a hotel however, I'm not sure you would be able to embark whenever you wanted, there is probably a specific period for this. Call RCCL to confirm. Kesstral Posted July 20, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted July 20, 2012 Thanks for the replies! That's kinda what I expected for embarkation and besides, if i was paying for 13 nights I'd definitely want to be there for the first day. Of course I made the mistake of showing my husband a picture of the Allure. He pointed at it like a 5 year old and said "I want that one!" Now to figure out which cruise to do first :S
