OzAbroad Posted July 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2012 This cruise leaves Rio on 10 December and we are currently giving it serious consideration as work commitments have inconveniently interrupted our current vacation plans for the end of the year. Paulchili Posted July 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2012 Of course, it's only your call as to whether this itinerary is interesting for you or not, but the second part (Valpa to Papeete) is fairly unique and not something Oceania (or anyone else) do routinely. Be sure to visit Cococobana and Ipenema beaches, Christ the Redeemer statue high up on Cococovada mountain, and Sugarloaf mountain . Also worth is a visit is one of the Cities pacified Favellas, all quite safe these days . Valparaiso and its adjoining city Vina del Mar are great cities to explore . Valparaiso is older and has real charm, be sure to ride one of the funny old funicular railways. Vina del Mar is more modern and to dine and live there you also need deep pockets . Ship will go to Ushuaia the southern most city in the world before continuing up the Chilean Fjords (not to be confused for scenery with those in Norway). Did this route in '99 on original Royal Princess and we also spent a day in Stanley, Falkland Islands. The population we found to be delightful and very British. We did a complete tour around the island at the Cape under sunny skies and light winds. There were several small sail boats taking the same route. Cheers, Don +1 It was one of the Princess ships - it was so sunny and calm that the captain decided to sail around.
