We decided to rent a car in Juneau for the 4th of July (cruising on the Diamond). We are excited to head out on our own and discover the outskirts and not fight the bus crowds. Just wanted to let people know that the cars are going fast. We rented from rent a wreck and already they are down to only a few cars available for the 4th. I am sure this is true for most days in port, not just a holiday. So...it's a reminder to plan ahead if you are thinking of renting a car while in port (at any port).
