Cruise Line Food Budgets Per Day?

Sorry if anyone has posted this before, but does anyone have any idea of the daily food budget spend for the various cruise lines?

I know they try to keep it top secret, but years ago the Food and Beverage guy told me the figure on Cunard Countess and I recall being amazed how they could produce eight meals a day, including sirloin, fillet and rib of beef, lobster etc. for such a low price. Was it eight bucks in 1982?

Anyone know what they spend today, say on Carnival vs. Crystal, etc.

According to Carnival Corp's latest 10K, they spent $550 million on food for about 44 million cruise days across all their lines. That comes to $12.50 per person per day, which seems very low. How does that compare to your number? This number is probably only food-- no labor, storage, cooling, etc.

The budget I was referring to is food only; staff costs, napery, crockery, etc., etc., would all be extra.

Thanks for working out that sum.

Wouldn't it be interesting to see the budgets within Carnival Corp, e.g. Carnival vs. Seabourn vs. Cunard?
