can this be done?

If you're SB, you can fly into Seattle then catch a connection to Anchorage. With a gazillion possibilities depending on your start, it could work out cheaper than flying direct, but any plane change complicates it a bit.

was really thinking more of driving. if we had extra days to add on pre cruise could we fly to Seattle, drive to Whittier and then transfer (somehow) from Vancouver back to Seattle?

I've never been to that area of the country so I'm a little at a loss.

BTW, I'm considering Princess RT from Seattle for 2006.

Thanks!

To drive from Seattle to Whittier, figure on a bare minimum of 7 days - it's about 46-48 hours of behind-the-wheel time. You could probably buy a car cheaper than what that rental would cost.

We're doing Alaska northbound next week. Even using air miles, I was able to get an "open-jaw" flight, into Vancouver and out of Anchorage. I originally thought I would have to add an Anchorage-Vancouver run as extra expense, but not so. If you're paying for trip, open-jaw might be a little more expensive than a regular round trip, but cheaper than adding a one-way leg.
