Prices for fishing in Alaska ??

I’m thinking of taking a few days prior to our cruise to go fishing, but I’m confused about the prices.

 

(All prices are per person) Some places like Seward or Soldotna have charters that run $150 for a ½ day. Figure in a place to stay at $75 a night, plus about $40 a day for food. I come up with $265, let’s say $300 to be safe.

 

Now other places like Katmai have lodges that charge $3500 per person for a 4 night stay. That’s $700 per day for 5 days.

 

My question is, what am I going to get for twice the money? Has anybody gone to any of these expensive places? What did you think?
