TabFox Posted August 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Has anyone added a person and changed their room after booking early saver? I've already booked a 1A for my son and I, but now husband wants to go so I want to upgrade to balcony. Is there a penalty for doing this?
k2excursion Posted August 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2012 No problem. No penalty. Your rate will change to whatever the going rate is for a balcony. They are always willing to take more of your money. :) Just keep in mind that you are not allowed to downgrade with Early Saver, so make sure that you definitely won't want anything less than a balcony before you move to it. But upgrades are allowed.
cruzinlisa Posted August 24, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2012 As long as you are not downgrading, there should be no problem or penalty. You are going from lowest category to one of the higher ones and adding a person so I imagine you are increasing revenue to them. I have upgraded before on ES without a problem (did not add anyone though). The only issue I could see is if its close to the sail date and its sold out or something. If you have an issue with getting someone to do it for you, call back and talk to someone else.
Simplertimes Posted August 24, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Last cruise, we had a group and all booked early saver. My daughter and her best friend and both their boyfriends had 2 inside rooms. The friend and her boyfriend ended up breaking up. So, the 3 remaining combined and upgraded to a balcony. No extra fees - the boyfriend not going lost a $50 admin. fee and got credit towards a future cruise. Hubby and I booked an inside room - after giving it a thought, decided to upgrade to a balcony. No problem at all - just paid the difference in price.
Carnival_Brides Posted August 24, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 24, 2012 We just did this with my sister's room. We added a person and they moved from a 7A to a 8B for roughly the same price. No penalty.
