It is my understanding that Disney allows you to bring on as much booze as you want and from what I've read recently HAL does, also.

Disney doesn't need to make money off of alcohol since they charge at least twice what Carnival does just to get on board.

Dumb Rule, yes I understand why BUT not letting you cruise without a parent till you turn 25. My daughter is Platinum has been for years and knows how to act on a ship. But she was very bummed when she couldn't celebrate her college graduation on a cruise. The day she turns 25 she leaves on a cruise she can't wait to be without her parents!:)

She can go on a cruise at 21. She just can't have anyone under the age of 21 in her room with her unless she's 25.

My vote is easy.. though I think confiscating my little 6 ft extension cord was silly.

My vote goes to confiscating two of my wine openers as weapons.. and then later that same night for dinner our waiter came around passing out steak knifes.

How is a wine opener a unsafe weapon.. but its ok to have a steak knife I could easily have walked out of the MDR with.

best one!!!!

Submit your nominations for the Dumbest Cruise Rule Ever here:

My submission is the "NO LIMES IN CORONA BOTTLES" rule. Apparently limes in the bottles mess up the recylcing regime so you can either have it in a glass with the lime or bottle sans lime (provided you are not on the pool deck)

Give me a break.

The distance from point A to point B doesn't change if you travel a floor up or down (and use an elevator so no stairs). That protects the daughter. Logical?

The distance does change, though, if you have to travel from point A via point C to get to point B. Anytime one takes a detour the distance changes.

I'm just thrilled that all of you now have your panties in a wad over my post ! Enjoy paying those prices for a drink that costs a cruise line .80 cents. Oh, and I have a bridge I'd like to sell to you. ..l..

lol, cruise line drink prices aren't that much worse than a lot of bars and lounges in downtown Orlando. They're probably cheaper than prices in really big or trendy cities like NY or Miami.

They charge more than it costs them, BFD, that's business.

When did this rule go in? I went on several cruises with my college mates when we were all under 25. Granted this would've been 8-10 years ago.

You can but you are charged $14 or $15 a bottle of wine on embarcation. Doesn't matter where you drink the wine, you are charged that much. You do get a refund (I believe) if you don't open the bottle.

Again, not true. You are charged an $18.00 corkage fee if you bring the bottle of wine to the MDR, Cannelettos or the Pinnacle Grill. We brought on 2 bottles and then picked up another bottle in Bermuda and we were not charged to bring them on the ship.

I think this is Carnivals policy on age.

Age

Passengers under the age of 21 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 25. Any passenger that tries to board the boat who is under that age must show proof that they are sharing a cabin with someone over the age of 21, are accompanied by their spouse, or traveling with a guardian or parent who is in a separate stateroom.

Eventhough it's not a rule, not having trays in the buffet stinks! Usually DH will take the kids, get everyone's drinks on one tray, and get a table. Meanwhile I grab 2 trays and hit the grill for everyone's food, this way no one in line gets bumped by a toddler and we can all eat together. Now I have to make twice as many trips for everything and by the time I get back with food for DH & I the kids are done eating and want to play again. I think this go around we'll be grabbing room service trays for lunch on port days and having mdr lunch on sea days.

Other than that, I'm kind of a stickler for rules, even ones that don't make sense. It's a family joke at this point!

Never said how I felt about the rule. Just that it is a shame that some poster on here like you, look for any excuse you can find to bash CCL.

Yeah, OK...I make one statement I don't like about CCL and I'm classified as a basher...Maybe you should take a closer look at my posts, 100's of them and see if you right....you're not.

I think it's a shame that every person who comes on these boards and makes one little negative comment about CCL is thrashed by posters like you.

Disney doesn't need to make money off of alcohol since they charge at least twice what Carnival does just to get on board.

And the food and entertainment are 5 times better.

They also do not have a casino, so they charge higher cabin prices so they can make it financially.

Maybe the cruise lines are getting rid of the trays because of things like Norovirus. If the trays just get wiped down like they do in mall food courts and not washed they'd be breeding grounds for all sorts of things. Especially on a cruise ship where viruses spread like wildfire. I'm sure it's not very convenient not having them, tho'.

You can go on a cruise at 21. 25 only comes into play if there is someone under 21 in the cabin. So, her daughter could go on a cruise for her college graduation as long as there isn't someone under 21 in her cabin.

It has to be no nude/ topless sunbathing in an adults only area of the ship.

:D:D Thank goodness somebody is finally staying on topic!!!

I don't know if this is so much a rule or not, but I really wish cruise ships stayed later at ports! I'm assuming its more of just a cost factor for them, but I would love it! Our first cruise on the Adventure of the Seas was southern caribbean. Our very first port was in Aruba and we were there all day. We snorkelled in the morning, shopped in the afternoon, and went out late into the night! I don't think the ship left port until 12-1am?? It was so nice having the time to do multiple things on one island. I think I just really need to book a Hawaii cruise....that should solve everything ;)
