New to NOLA cruising, have questions

We are sailing on Star December 23. Our first Norwegian experience.

 

We are accustomed to Galveston where you spend the night in a hotel and they keep the car all week and shuttle you back and forth to the port.

 

We have never sailed out of NOLA before, anyone have hotel suggestions and where to leave the car?

 

Or is this idea of a hotel going to be impossible with the New Orleans Bowl on December 22 and the Sugar Bowl on January 2?

Hotels will probably be expensive, but there are lots that offer parking while on the cruise. Some also include transportation to and from the port.

Look at the Holiday Inn French Quarter on Royal St. We parked there for our cruise last Christmas. Stayed 2 nights, parked for the duration of the cruise for free. You will have to get to the port (for us that meant that we used our car to drive everyone to the port, then one person drove the car back to Holiday Inn (5-10 minutes drive). Then he could have hailed a cab ($8) but instead chose to walk it--20 minutes or so. Very easy and you are then staying in the French Quarter instead of the outskirts of town.

The Hampton Inn New Orleans Convention Center is right across the street from where the port is located and they offer cruise parking and free shuttle service to and from the port. Thanks, Key West, but according to the Hamp. Inn Con.Ctr page, parking is $14./night. We're booked at the Hampton Garden Dist. on St.Charles for $143/night and FREE pkg. steve
