Pre-authorization/hold for onboard spending

question: Is there a standard policy for the amount (if any) of a "hold" placed on the credit/ debit/ charge card registered for onboard purchases?

 

O info & actual experience seems to vary, a sample includes 'none', 'daily balance +$1', 'one time $100' and 'one time $500'.

Here is your answer:

 

First authorization is $100.

Thereafter, it is the guests folio balance PLUS $100.

OK...so...just to clarify...when I go to the cruise port to check in, they will place a $100 hold on my debit/credit card. Once I begin to purchase items, those charges will also be held...correct?
