HALIFAX, NS, CA Mass transit

Recommended Posts

Definitely will - just concerned with the timing since it's the Sunday you're planning on doing Mic Mac and the bus/ferry times are different on weekends than during the week (The #1 Spring Garden which would take you to the Halifax mall runs every 15/30 minutes whereas the ferry is every 30min and then the #54 Montebello every 60 mins).

If you stay on the Halifax side and get delayed or miss the bus for whatever reason it's a reasonably priced taxi ride downtown whereas if it happens on the Dartmouth side you could be in for a long wait or pricier taxi ride to get back to the ship.

ummm maybe I read wrong - if the shopping is an "excursion" then it's the Tuesday.... ???

What can we expect with weather and foliage Oct. 26?

1055 Marginal Road, NS B3H 4P7 I dont think it takes quite this long to walk there. It is lovely by the way although most of the trees on the point were destroyed by Hurricane Juan in 2003.

I am not much of a shopper, but better shopping centres exist. One of the biggest is the Halifax Shopping Centre. I do not know the bus routes but it is located here: http://*******/maps/oxkpi and you could take busses which go on Bayers Road or Mumford Road.

OK google maps says to take bus #1 and you can even put in the times! http://*******/maps/0lUxW

There are lots of things to see and do in Halifax. Have you taken the ferry to Dartmouth? or the Harbour Hopper? gone to Peggy's Co?ve, gone to Lunenburg?

Have been to Halifax many times....also drove to Lunenburg with stops along the way. Have been to seashore areas on Dartmouth side and CA Nat. Park. What is your opinion of Wolfville and Grand Pre for Fri., Oct. 26? ....car rental or take a tour (request tour co. referral)?

Looking for something different to do beyond the typical tourist sites....any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks

I love the Wolfville area. You can take a wine tour, find a private tour driver, or just rent a car and go on your own.

If you look for me on the Trip Advisor Nova Scotia forum I can send you a long PM with a list of tour operators. You can also find these by doing a search on Cruise Critic.

If we take the ferry to Dartmouth (week-day), is there anything special to see or do there for a few hours besides shopping? If so, please give directions for getting there. Thanks.

It's known as the City of Lakes. As for a few hours, h'mm, not a lot of Touristy type stuff in Dartmouth. They have a Monument by the Ferry Terminal, which has Rocks from all over the world. It's good for maybe 10-15 minutes ;-)

Here's a few ideas

http://www.dartmouthheritagemuseum.ns.ca/

Quaker House

57-59 Ochterloney St, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia B2Y 1C3, Canada

(about a 5 minute walk from Ferry Terminal)

http://www.bccns.com/

Black Cultural Centre (this would be about a 40 minute Bus ride from the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal)

http://www.shearwateraviationmuseum.ns.ca/ (about 30 Minutes from the Ferry Terminal)

http://www.bio.gc.ca/

Bedford Institute of Oceanography (about 30 minute Bus ride)

I know you next question. What are they like?? Well, I can't answer that as I drive by them all the Time and have never been in any of them. Trip Advisor does have reviews however.

As for the Weather, somebody asked ;) , the end of October. It can range from high 30's to mid 60's +, Average temp would be 45-55F
