Living with partner, read fine print

I always buy trip insurance, just found a glitch for those of us unmarried but living with partner folks. Unless you have an official/registered domestic partnership, (we do not) some insurance companies will not include your partner in the "family" definition for trip cancellation/interruption purposes. Some companies will require proof of cohabitation and shared financial arrangements, which we can do. So take the time to read that section of the policy before buying. I use insuremytrip.com to shop, use the Compare feature. Also, pick up the phone and chat with these companies about your questions, I've found the staff to be very helpful.
