oakleys Posted September 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2012 Any shops near the pier, might want to pick up a few beers to try & take on board? thanks
Langoustine Posted September 5, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2012 You'll find markets where you can buy beer on 10th Avenue (2 blocks from the pier) but I don't know of any ship that allows you to carry them on. NY alcohol laws are a little odd, by the way: a market can sell beer, but not wine (they can sell a dreadful thing called a "wine product,") and liquor stores can sell wine or liquor, but not beer. If you're looking for wine, there's a very good store at 43rd & 10th, and a market for beer right across the street.
oakleys Posted September 5, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted September 5, 2012 Ok yes thats odd, just going to put 6 in the carry on. If they seize no big deal.
SMerritt Posted September 6, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2012 It is almost 100% your Beer will be confiscated in a carry-on. You might try putting the beer in your checked in luggage - but if it is found, your luggage could be delayed and held for pick-up until late in the evening Just not worth the hassles IMO
mjkacmom Posted September 6, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2012 We've smuggled on liquor (for the cabin - trust me, we had a generous bar bill, as well), but I can't imagine beer getting through. DH is a beer drinker, and that would've been a money saver (plus he likes better beers than they have on a lot of ships), but no, not going to happen.
