jakesnana Posted September 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2012 An acquaintence of mine that is from the DR, has advised that we go to Los Haitises National Park while we were in La Romana. When she was visiting there a few months ago, she went with her DH and said it was beautiful and they had a blast. Unfortunately, I cannot find any vendors that do an excursion to this area. Does anyone have any personal experience with this nature reserve? I have been to La Romana in the past and this sounds like a wonderful day to spend the day, rather than doing another beach day. TIA for your help.
lifesabeach123 Posted September 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2012 Los Haitises National Park is located in the isolated north east coast of the island. It is too far to travel to on a cruise stop at La Romana port. If you are docking in Samana it is accessible. From La Romana port you can easily access Parque Nacional del Este (National Park of the East). This park includes Saona Island. SteveLT Posted September 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2012 If you are Visiting Dominican Republic on a Cruise Ship and want to go discover Los Haitises National Park - Caves & Mangroves, for sure if your Port of Call is La Romana that won't be possible. To far and not enough time. If your Port of Call is SAMANA, then you have many Licensed Tour Operators at the Port of Samana offering this excursion online on their website. Best source of information is a local website called GO SAMANA where you will find all Tour Operators offering this tour.
