two_n_six Posted September 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2012 Hi I booked our 1st cruise through the Celebrity website and we are flying from Scotland to Miami on 28th November. We are staying at the Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach FLL. We are leaving on the Eclipse on the 1st December so have 3 nights before sailing. Any suggestions for days or evenings, initially looked at chilling out pre cruise, but not sure if there is anywhere/thing we would regret not doing while we are there. Any suggestions would be appreciated, we are (a young) 52 and 49.:)
Duddy Posted September 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2012 Take one of the boat tours through the waterways. There are tons of beautiful houses and yachts to see. Have fun! ~Bob~

oncruisecontrol Posted September 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2012 Well, since you're staying at the Crowne Plaza in Hollywood, I would recommend that you check out Gulf Stream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. There are some interesting shops and restaurants (as well as a casino) there. It is only a couple of miles from your hotel. I wouldn't call it a "must do" but it is an enjoyable outing close to your hotel. I would also recommend going to the Aventura Mall, which is a couple of miles south of Gulf Stream Park. This is an upscale mall with nice shops and a couple of restaurants with tasty food. Again, not a "must do", but not far from where you are staying, and if you are looking to shop, it is a popular, upscale mall that attracts a fair amount of well-heeled tourists and locals. Host Faith Posted September 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2012 I would take a day and ride the Ft. Lauderdale Water Taxi (http://watertaxi.com/). You can hop on and hop off as many times as you want in a day, stopping at places that pique your interest. We loved Las Olas Blvd with its shops and restaurants. For dinner one night if you have a car, we fell in love with Truluck's (http://trulucks.com/).
two_n_six Posted September 11, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted September 11, 2012 Thanks for the suggestions we are looking at these options now. We quite like the idea of a hop on hop off water taxi to do as we please when we please.
