Your one best Solstice tip for a Med cruise

If you had one tip to offer to new Solstice cruisers going on a Med cruise next week, What would it be ?

Your upcoming cruise has just about the same stops/ports as what we did last June in the Med. The only difference is that yours does Split in place of Dubrovnik.

For the Solstice, the top tip is to explore the ship and its many features in two key ways. First, spend time prior to your cruise looking in detail at the floor-by-floor lay-outs for the various locations, options and places. Second, when getting on the ship, walk around, see what you like and catches your interest, fancy, etc. Seek what fits your style and interest. There are lots of wonderful potentials on the ship. Don't wait till too late on your cruise to discover and know about these various places.

From my live/blog below, you can see lots and lots more ideas and tips for this wonderful ship, these great ports, etc. Reactions and questions?

Below are a few of my photo samples on my favorites places on this ship that is so well designed and offers so much. Plus some other links that might be helpful.

Since Venice is one of your key stops, you might look at this earlier posting that I did on the Italy board that shows many options and visual potentials for this city that is so great for "walking around", personally sampling the great history and architecture. This posting has now had over 14,570 views and I appreciate those who have dropped by and tuned in. Don’t be shy in sharing any questions or comments.

Did a June 7-19, 2011, Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. Dozens of wonderful visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc., on these postings. We are now at 102,165 views for this live/blog re-cap on our first sailing with Celebrity and much on wonderful Barcelona. Check these postings and added info at:

The Solarium was one of our most favorite areas. Food and drinks were nearby and it was very relaxed and sophisticated. Quieter, too, as it is an adults-only area. Two hot tubs here. Not crowded, especially in the evenings. Nice art and design with this facility. Wonderful setting for relaxing and watching the outside water/shore views, enjoying subtle inside action, etc.:

For entertainment in the Solstice Theatre, it was called “Solstice -- The Show” featuring a European-style dance, air acts, music, etc. Very dramatic and interesting as they swing, twirl and soar over the audience and stage. It is a “state-of-the-art” theatre with these "Cirque-type" dancers being able to “do their thing”. Here is one example of the “air show” put on by the show performers.:

I liked to ride one of the eight glass elevators in the mid-ship courtyard with nice views out to the different floors, enjoying the ship architecture, people being active, etc. You can see the relaxing library in this shot. Classy design on this ship! Some tradition, but not too dated or old.:

In the pool area, they have these water jets that put on a nice “show”, both to watch and/or for kids to play in.:

Super loved it when there were times at the pool in the afternoons on the Solstice last June when the “party band” was going at it with great tunes. This added to the fun and excitement around the pool area of our ship. Just like done by some famous California pop groups, we were hearing “fun, fun, fun” underneath the sun!!:

On the top, back of the Solstice, here is a wider view of Corning Hot Glass show area, plus the green grass and the unique covering designs for this special area of the ship. Classy design touches and style!!:

Along with Terry's excellent advice, I would suggest that you watch for $$ off specials in the Speciality restaurants!! On our recent Italy/Croatia cruise, they were offering 2 for 1 almost every night in all three restaurants!

Thank you Terry & Mrs. Bits - Great advice, We're in AQ so we're planning on Blu for dining. We appreciate all the advice we've gotten here on the Roll Call !

We love Blu! The waitstaff is fabulous and the quiet, intimate dining is great for conversation. We have also made some great new friends, while dining at the nearby tables for two. Enjoy your cruise.

Appreciate the nice comments from Philly5082 and Carolyn. For our Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Celebrity Solstice sailing, departing Sydney, doing 14 days on this nice ship, finishing in Auckland, we are looking at doing a Celebrity Suite. That would allow us and some of our friends traveling together some access, if available, to the Blu dining option. Will be interested in trying that potential and see how it fits our needs and interests. The MDR is "OK", but not as flexible in hours and room comfort as we would ideally desire. It's nice, for us, to have vareity and many potentials. The same-old, same-old each and every night is not as much our "thing".

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio
