Packing

I am packing my clothes for the trip to get it over with.. I have a few questions

1) on sea days, what would I wear when just lounging around the ship; walking or sitting at a bar?? Shorts (jean shorts) and a tank top? Or something nicer?

2) Obsiously sitting on the lounge chairs drinking in my bathing suit is fine, right? and if I were to walk to the bar (I know there are waiters though)I can throw on a sarong (sp)

3) is there a certain time of day that I need to get out of the shorts and dress it up a bit ? Dinner for us is 8:00 (and I know its dressier)

4) will it be chilly at night? would a fleece be too much?

5) and I guess anything goes when I am on my own balcony

OHH and for men... can he wear nice jeans in the day on the ship with a nice button up shirt or pollo shirt....

Yes, he can wear jeans and a shirt around the ship during the day. I think he might be a bit warm in long jeans in May in the Caribbean but if he is comfortable, that's fine. No jeans in the dining room for dinner.

You'll find most of the ladies are wearing shorts or capris when out and about the ship for breakfast, lunch, any of the ship's activities, in the casino or lounges during the day in the Caribbean. Or, of course, swimsuits if going to the pool.

Seeing as the earliest dinner is served at 5:45 P.M., we try to be certain to be out of public areas by that time if we are not yet dressed for the evening.

Congratulations and Best Wishes on your wedding. Loads of good wishes.

one thing i would clarify (and possibly disagree with) - just because people are eating as early as 545 doesn't mean you have to curtail your enjoyment of parts of the ship because of it (again, imo - others may disagree). if you're working on catching the last rays of that day's sunshine, going for a swim, sitting in a hot tub, working out, etc. - you obviously then have to be able to get back to your cabin to change - and you shouldn't feel compelled to stop your day to go hide in your cabin simply because others are formally dressed for the evening. that said, do make an effort to steer clear of those areas (e.g. in front of the dining rooms, atrium, inside bars - areas where those formally dressed will likely congregate) in deference to the evening's dress code.

otherwise, sounds like you got it covered. weird to think i'll be meeting you in person sunday week... until then! :)

First of all, I cannot imagine how excited you must be with both your wedding and upcoming cruise! We just got back from the Caribbean a week ago. I took way too many clothing especially for daytime use but it's hard to judge it your not sure. However, I took along several bathing suit coverups of various styles-three were very comfy outfits with tops & capris. On days that we were in port early & planning to go the beach or water based excursion, I'd just shower & get ready for the day before breakfast. But I had also taken along enough outfits to wear each day for day wear. You'll find out that there are sometimes like on sea days that you might slip something on to go catch breakfast (dining areas can be chilly IMO), then back to change for sunning or swimimg. Other sea days you might want to go on a tour or go to a movie so if you have an idea what you might be doing it's a little easier to plan. I did not take any shorts or jeans. I never felt overdressed or uncomfortable. Some ports were very hot & humid as I'm sure they will be for your trip too. Those days I was more comfortable in a sundress or skirt. It's true what everyone (for the most part) guides you on these boards-go with what you are comfortable wearing and dress according to the evening guidelines for cruiseline. Have a wonderful time!

We both wear shorts, tanks and/or tee's and flip-flops on sea days, usually over bathing suit (for me), DH's suit looks like shorts anyway. We do not eat in the D/R for lunch or breakfast - so we are pretty much dressed like this all day. You will find most folks dressed very casually during sea days.

I agree with Sail that jeans would probably be way too warm - for me, even capris can be too much sometimes.

Like Tarkus, we don't run back to the cabin and change because early seating has abandoned the pool areas to get ready for dinner. For us, that is one of the best parts of the day - and a great chance to use the hot tub, but we wouldn't go into the Ocean Bar or one of the other lounges dressed so casually once it gets to be about 5:00 or so.

The outside bars are fine for casual dress. Many people walk right up to the bar in their bathing suits, the only time you'd need the sarong (which is fine, by the way) is in the Lido restaurant area. There are still some folks who don't "cover up" when inside, but it is suggested that you do.

Have a wonderful Honeymoon! :)

AT least three bathing suits for guys and gals (with coverups), t-shirts, shorts or casual pants, flip-flops and tennis shoes/socks, warmup type suit (jacket and pants 'cause nights can be cool), pj's (optional), lots of sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, camera/disc or film, dress clothes for formal/informal nights, khakis and golf type shirts for casual or pants/skirts/sundress for lady with appropriate shoes, bonine if you are prone to seasickness and your personal items.

Jeans are okay but you will get a little warm in them--suggest lighter colors and materials.

Advice: apply at least a 30 sunscreen if you burn easily and apply it often. A good sunburn the first day (or any day) will put a damper on your cruise especially on your honeymoon. Love those lobster red people who are really grouchy when anyone gets within a foot of them:rolleyes:

Have a wonderful cruise--blue,calm seas, sunshine and happiness for the two of you always. Congratulations!:)
