Star Princess vs Westerdam

Can anyone give me some comparisons. We were booked on the Westy in December and now must cancel due to the birth of a new grandbaby. We have tried to re-book for January but the mid ship cabins on the Westy are all taken or really more expensive. The Star has a similar itinerary and a reasonable comparable price. Can anyone compare these two ships and their pluses and minuses for me. Thanks so much.

I've cruised the Westerdam twice and just got off the Star Princess on Sunday. No comparison. Star wins hands down. In fact, Holland America would have to have something ultra special to wean me away from any Princess cruise.

I am still waiting for my first Princess cruise, but, IN GENERAL, you'll find that Princess has more and better activities/entertainment and HAL has better food and service and the cabins are a little bigger. HAL is more low-key while Princess has a little of everything.
