rwadam Posted September 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2012 Hello, I just returned from a Nile River cruise aboard the M/S Sun Boat IV, through Abercrombie & Kent. It was a wonderful trip. I realize that the news reports have not been good with respect to Egypt, but we were in Cairo on Friday, Sept. 14 - Sunday, Sept. 16 after the cruise, and we didn't see any protesters (even drove through Tahrir Square on Saturday on our way to a walking tour of Old Cairo and then again on our way to the Pyramids). We never felt insecure. Our cruise, from Luxor to Aswan, was wonderful. I posted some pictures on my personal travel blog, www.RAtraveler.com, in case anyone is interested. Abercrombie does a first rate job -- the facilities, our guide, our air and ground transfers -- all were great. Our group of 19, mostly American, ranged from mid 20's to mid 70's, and I believe everyone had a great time. The boat was beautiful, the food was great, no one got sick (:)). We had a little trouble with the wifi on board, but the front desk accommodated us with a 3G connection when we had to get online briefly to take care of some business. The vendors were not as bad as I expected after reading some others' experiences on CC -- I just said "no thank you" and kept walking and never had a problem. I highly recommend an Egypt tour through Abercrombie and I would use them again for a tour to a challenging destination.
