60andhappy Posted September 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2012 When we sailed with Celebrity several years ago we purchased one of several "Wine Pkgs" offered. We had a choice of wines by the bottle. Unsed portions of bottles could be corked and stored, they were brought to us at dinner the following evening. I don't see anything similar being offered now. The packages offered seem to only have wine by the glass. Any help wpould be appreciated. We are sailing on the Equinox.
Kartgv Posted September 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2012 Yes, it's there under "Beverage Packages", called Taste of the Vineyards Wine Package. You can choose a "Classic" or "Premium" package, anywhere from 3 - 7 bottles. You can order online prior to boarding or you can buy it once onboard. Your waiter will keep any unused open bottles in the dining room for the next night or you can take it back to your room with you - your choice! biker1972 Posted September 20, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2012 You are limited to only the wines that are on the list for each package. Classic package starts at $99 for three bottles and the Premium starts at $129 for three. The list for the classic has 19 wines to choose from and the Premium has 23. CaroleSS Posted September 20, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2012 OK, I've done some math and have a small question. The normal bottle of wine yields 4 glasses of wine. If you say that a glass of wine costs $8 (the price allowable under the classic package) that comes to $32 per bottle X 3 bottles = $96. It seems ot me that if you purchase the classic package, you are paying $3 too much!! Plus you are limiting yourself to only 3 choices! There used to be a saying about an upper-class hotel that they built here in Denver a few years ago. "It was built for people with more money than brains." Nevertheless, they seem to rent a lot of rooms every night! This wine package probably wasn't made for people who posses higher math skills like you. If you wanted to increase your choices you could always buy three of these packages!

biker1972 Posted September 20, 2012 #9 Share Posted September 20, 2012 It is also good to remember that you pay $44 per day for the classic alcohol package. If you only want two or three classes of wine each night and not much else, the wine package makes perfect sense. My last cruise my wife and I went through 3 or 4 bottles and several specialty coffees. Would have cost us extra to have an all you care to drink package. With $850 obc we did not have scrimp; we just are not big drinkers.
Kevnzworld Posted September 20, 2012 #10 Share Posted September 20, 2012 I will just continue to buy what I like from the entire inventory rather than be limited to the wines in the package. It's not a bargain at $33 a bottle anyway. On my last cruise I found a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc that I liked and it was $35.
Mermen Posted September 20, 2012 #11 Share Posted September 20, 2012 On our last cruise we purchased a wine package which also included specialty restaurant dining...that was a nice perk and a good savings.
