I would like to take a people mover and then vaporetto to St. Mark. Please tell me where can I pick up a map to easily walk around the town.

The Visitor's Center is tucked away in a corner of SMQ that anyone there can direct you to in one of the shops(not a tourist)They have all kinds of info there.

When we were there in 2008, there was a visitor kiosk right in Pizzale Roma (where you will get off the peoplemover) right in front of the Ca Doge Hotel.

 

Not a big building, just a small square kiosk, but they had maps and gave directions.

 

There is a larger Information Center just around the corner from San Marco Piazza. I can't get the photo to transfer, but if you use this link, hopefully it will work. San Marco is at the top of the map, there is a green park area just to the left. Then there is a small white domed building that is the information center.
