wristband Posted September 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2012 I am considering this for Livorno. Description:walk to town market, shop for staples, return to ship and "later that afternoon" have a private cooking class. Tour is 5.25 hours. If you have taken this excursion here or in Cadiz, does the class collectively produce lunch? Or, do we break for lunch once back onboard, then regroup later that afternoon in the Culinary Center for class?
Aruba Posted September 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2012 In my experience (but I've only done 2 culinary tours), participants have a couple of hours of free time once back on board, then regroup in the Culinary Center at 4pm for the cooking class. wristband Posted September 27, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted September 27, 2012 Thank you. So lunch onboard. Did you opt not to have dinner that evening due to the late afternoon class? May I assume you enjoyed results produced by the cooking class @ 5-5:30 pm?
Aruba Posted September 27, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2012 Each class was roughly 2 hours, 4pm to 6pm -- we ate (and drank) as we worked. By the time we got done with our Greek cooking class in Corfu, we were so stuffed that we never went to dinner that evening. BTW, both of the culinary tours I did included a large lunch on-shore as part of the tour. The descriptions did not make that clear (or if they did, I missed it so the lunches came as a pleasant surprise to me). Chef Kelly was excellent...but for me personally the classes were more "entertainment" than instruction. That doesn't mean I didn't thoroughly enjoy myself though. :)
wristband Posted September 28, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted September 28, 2012 Ok great! Thanks for the perspective and for filling in the blanks. I plan to take the excursion/class for fun also. The timing outlined online and in cruise docs is very unclear. Appreciate your help here.
