Air Boat Excursion Questions

Our flight doesn't leave after our cruise until 5pm and we were looking at this excursion, it seems to get pretty good reviews on here but I was a little concerned with the travel time - it says the air boat portion is only 30 minutes, how long are you spending traveling back and forth? Also, it gets us back to the airport at 1:30, any good restaurants there to grab a leisurely lunch at while we wait for our flight?

Just a thought if you don't have your heart set on the airboat ride.

I was looking at the same thing and several people suggested renting a car. At first I didn't want to hassle with it, but then I did some math. Would have to taxi to air boat excursion (unless thru the ship, which we didn't want) Then taxi to somewhere for lunch, also taxi to the airport.

Instead I found a code for Budget on these boards (Y937800) and was able to rent a car from 8AM to 5 PM, for $39 with all taxes.

Shuttle is suppose to be waiting at the curb when we leave this ship, going to do the walk off. Will pick up car at location right outside the port, may go to beach, then probably find lunch somewhere, maybe stop at the casino, then on to the airport to drop off the car before flight. Still reading about the tours, but it seems like they are all pretty short from what I have found.

I did something similar and I think the drive on the bus took maybe 45 minutes. The airboat ride does go rather quickly but its fun and an interesting trip. If its the same place I went to, you'll have a gift store, a croc show, cats and birds to see. I did the excursion that included a bird sanctuary trip and I highly recommend that! I loved feeding all the cute birds :) but those banana spiders overhead still give me the chills just thinking about them!

If you do the airboat excursion, make sure you have access to a waterproof jacket. We got drenched when we did this excursion in February because of a storm in the area. It was still fun though; we might do it again in Feb 2013.
