awfw Posted September 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2012 After many visits to Grand Cayman, we have decided to just stay in town and stroll around. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good place to stop for lunch and a drink to relax? Will be visiting in January. awfw
TurtleTagger Posted September 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2012 I like the setting at Rackham's on the waterfront. The food is not bad either. Hammerhead's is another similar option nearby. For above average food, La Dolce Vita would be my choice. Costs more and not quite as nice a setting though.
blue_water Posted September 30, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2012 Prior recommendations are right on. In town we actually enjoyed lunch on the water at the Paradise restaurant. We also enjoyed a couple dinners at Casanova, an Italian restaurant with a nice balcony on the water a short walk from downtown, very romantic and the best limoncello we've had. Not sure if they're open for lunch. The deck at Margaritaville is a great spot if you want a more lively atmosphere. If a short taxi or bus is OK the Wharf has a nice deck on the water, great spot for dinners, not sure if they're open for lunch. We had fun at Coconut Joe's just a little further up across from the Comfort Suites (not on the beach), just a small bar with daily 2 for 1 drink specials but another short taxi or bus. There's also a small bar at the CI. And of course the Reef Grill at Royal Palms on the beach is a popular hangout for cruisers.
drew sailbum Posted September 30, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2012 Casanova is open for lunch... at least they have a lunch menu so I suppose they are. Great Italian food and right on the water. Guy Harvey's Grill is popular with local professionals and the balcony has a view of the water. Seafood is their specialty but have enough variety to satisfy most any craving. Breezes By the Bay is another favorite that deserves mention in any dining decision making in central George Town.
